Meky's Burger Bar — Restaurant in Sal

If you are a burger type of person this is the right place for you. Specialized in Hamburger, all kind and type, cozy ambient, beautiful terrace, located on the main square of santa maria. Owned and runned by local, a must to visit here. One of few places open during this pandemic period. Unfortunately during this time most of the business are close because of Covid situation. Moreover, this is a small island and basically is totally isolated from the rest of the world. The good thing is that it is very safe here; in Sal at this very moment, there are 0 people infected, and remember that it is a tropical island, so we have no complaints at all. I'm used to living here, and I hope that all will start to move as it uses to be. As the government told us during the last days, Capo Verde already made all the arrangements for the vaccine, and if it goes as is planned, I really hope so; by March or April, the vaccine supposes to be administrated to all people in all islands. We visited Meky's twice during our stay in Sal and here's what we have to say:

The food is innovative, high quality and the taste is 10/10. Also the vegetarian option.

The location is lovely, especially the terrace.

The staff is extremely friendly, very respectful and professional. Willy served us both times and did not leave us anything to wish for. He even went out of his way to make us a fresh lemonade.

All in all: Worth more than one visit and by far the best food/service we received on the island of Sal.

BBQ Burger, simply well done. For what it is, this BBQ Burger (with cheese) is about the best thing I have eaten since I got here a week ago. Perfect burger, juicy, tasty, the place has an upstairs and glass fronted kitchen in the courtyard towards the rear. Sadly lacking though was the service. They were”busier than usual” but wasn’t given attention when arrived, mostly ignored upstairs and left to go downstairs where I ordered at the counter and after the beer ran out I went inside again to pay so didn’t bother with a second draught of beer.
