The food is tasty, we ordered the wagyu brisket with fried potatoes (but received potato wedges instead), the pizza with beef brisket cherry tomatoes and pesto, spicy potatoes with bacon and cheese sauce as well as the salmon with sour cream and vegetables. All were tasty, however, the service was what let us down. When we entered the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised as the staff spoke good English. There was no table available and we were told we will have to wait 20 minutes to be seated, and another pleasant surprise a table became available within 5 minutes of our arrival. Once we sat down, we did not get any menus but decided to order a beer from the list of beers available on the wall, sadly the ones we picked out (Astral Rubarbio) was unavailable so we settled for the next choice (Astral Calafata). Upon waiting another 10 minutes we finally received the menus and were able to start making our decisions for the dinner. The waitress took our order (said she would remember it without writing it down), but then once another colleague took away the dishes she was holding in her hand she decided to note our order. As previously mentioned my husband and I ordered a starter each, when we ordered the spicy potatoes we were told this will not be served until after 8pm as this dish is only served after 8pm (we ordered at 7:40pm), however we were okay with that. The spicy potatoes arrived before 8pm and were the only starter to arrive. Soon after we finished the spicy potatoes the pizza I had ordered arrived, which was peculiar, as the second starter has not yet arrived. Soon after the pizza the second starter arrived and was followed by my husband’s main dish of wagyu brisket and the additional side order of salad. When I pointed out to the waitress that we would’ve liked both our starters to arrive at the same time or at least before both of our main dishes arrived, she did not seem to care as we got what we ordered in the end. As we sat there and ate our starter and main dishes at the same time, we ordered another drink. We finished our food, stepped outside into the lovely decorated smoking area, and hoped our drinks would have arrived by then. We made conversation with two ladies in the smoking area who arrived in the restaurant before us and still did not receive their order, and made our way back to the table. At this stage, unsurprisingly our drinks did not arrive (15 minutes after ordering) and we had to leave, so we asked for the bill. The waitress brought the bill and upon checking they were looking to charge us for the drinks we did not receive. I asked the waitress to correct the bill and remove these drinks from the bill, which was done. Overall, the food & atmosphere in the restaurant are good, however, the poor service hugely overshadows the positives. There are much better restaurants in Puerto Natales with fantastic food and great service, I just don’t think this...
Read moreWe’d just finished the W Trek and were looking forward to a great meal. This restaurant came recommended by the store where we hired our hiking gear, so expectations were high. Sadly, the experience didn’t live up to them — especially for the price.
My partner ordered the brisket with vegetables, and I had the ribs with salad. Each was around 22,000–24,000 CLP — among the most expensive single mains we’ve had in South America (aside from a 14-course Michelin-star meal in Buenos Aires). My ribs were dry and tough, as if they’d been sitting out too long. When I asked for more sauce, the woman I believe was the manager simply said, “May I take your plate?” without any apology. The ribs came back with sauce poured on top — just four small pieces that tasted no better than something from a supermarket.
The pickled salad was extremely acidic and hard to eat due to the heavy vinegar. The corn cobs were unevenly heated — hot on one side, cold and soggy on the other, almost as if they’d been partially frozen. My partner said her vegetables were nice, but her brisket was also a bit dry.
It’s a shame, as the restaurant itself has a pleasant atmosphere and plenty of staff. But when you’re positioning yourself as a higher-end spot — especially one focused on brisket and ribs — the quality of the meat really needs to be right. Overall, very disappointing given the cost and...
Read moreI am from Texas and I'm a snob about brisket. I tried this place because I thought it would be a novelty. Something I could go home and joke about "yeah I had brisket in Chile, as expected they don't even know what it is". I. Was. Wrong. This place earns the name. I have eaten brisket all over the USA from Memphis, to the Carolinas, to Florida, Georgia and my favorites all in Texas (Hutchin's, Franklin's, Lockhart's, etc). I've also had "BBQ" (really just grilled meat) from many places from Latin America, Middle East, etc that are all super proud of their meat but at the end of the day it's just meat. I'd say the brisket here was top 10% brisket I've ever had. It was very smokey and extremely tender. If you're looking for a really fatty brisket that does a good job lubricating your mouth, this isn't quite it. But the flavor and tenderness is some of the best in the world. Seriously, my favorite brisket place (Hutchin's) is only better than this about 10-20% of the time.
The service was a bit above average for a Latin American restaurant (though still solidly Latin American service) and the drinks were good.
You have to try this if you're in Puerto Natales.
(My partner got the fish sandwich, I think it was salmon, and she thought it was very...
