We stayed four nights over New Year in a private room with a bathroom for $340. Our room was very cosy and was one of four (I think) in the small garden of the hostel. The walls were thin as they were essentially (fancy) shed like structures. As the garden closed as ten it was no issue really. ||||The bed was very comfortable and the shower good and strong. There was tea making facilities and a heater that made the room nice and warm when the nights turned cool.||||The hostel offers some of the best value private rooms in town so we were OK with the fact we had nowhere to unpack our suitcases in the room as you've only got a few hooks rather than wardrobes. Also, like pretty much everyone else, we used it as a base to go hiking and explore the beautiful countryside.||||The staff were absolutely lovely and so helpful. Breakfast was included and was pleasant enough with yoghurt, bread, ham, cheese and cucumber. The restaurant was also popular in the evenings but we didn't eat there. One day they made us packed lunch to take on our hike.||||Parking is free and on street. Only one day did we have trouble finding a spot but that was on New Years eve when everybody came to town to party. The location is central and close to the town's supermarket and all the bars and restaurants||||We enjoyed our...
Read moreWild hostel is a super cosy hostel, well located and nicely furnished. The staff is warm and helpful, serving a delicious breakfast in the morning. The big common area with sofas at the entrance gives a lively welcome to all guests :) The rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. I definitely reccommend it!
Just one complain for the travel agency right next to the hostel: TURISMO COMAPA treated us very badly. We booked there an excursion to Perito Moreno (5 hours bus to go there and 5 hours to come back), meeting point at the hostel at 6.30 a.m.
6.30 but NO BUS SHOWED UP 😱 ! Half an hour later we discovered that the driver arrived at 6.20. We had to call a taxi, which drove crazily to the Chilean-Argentinian border in the desperate attempt to reach the bus.
We made it, also thanks to the Wild hostel staff who was really really nice and helpful. But just imagine the level of stress.
In the next days we just gently asked at the agency for the money for the taxi back. Not possible. Well. I feel like sharing this experience.
Rest of Chile is...
Read moremy girlfriend and i were walking past this place and noticed a sign that said ‘cafe-bar’ so we decided to stumble in and order some tea and hot chocolate on the rainy day. after a while, a staff person came up and rudely whispering said if we are not going to order anything else to leave stating that this is not an internet cafe and to save the wifi for actual hostel guests. i am assuming they were whispering since there were other non-hostel guests nearby enjoying a drink or bite. we were hanging out, reading on our computers, planning for our torres del paine trek and not necessarily on wifi. excuse me but please remove the sign outdoors that invites non-hostel guests. otherwise state you expect people to pay a minimum amount since you are not confident in the services you provide or pony up and buy more routers if you’re so...
