When it comes to Beijing cuisine, few names resonate as strongly as Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant. Nestled in the bustling heart of Wangfujing, this iconic spot promises an authentic slice of Beijing's culinary heritage. But does it live up to the hype? Let's dive in. First off, the roast duck. Oh, the roast duck! It’s every bit as succulent and flavorful as you’d expect from a place with such a storied reputation. The skin is crispy, the meat tender, and the Beijing style flavors are on point. A solid 7 out of 10 in my book. The other dishes? They play a supporting role, but the star remains the duck. We arrived early, and boy, did that pay off. The service was fast, like lightning-fast. However, the interaction was minimal—most of the staff don’t speak English, which might make the experience a bit impersonal for some. Average service, let's say. Now, let's talk prices. Brace yourself, because Quanjude is not for the faint of wallet. It’s expensive, undeniably so. The environment is clean, which is always a plus, but when it comes down to it, the overall experience feels a tad overpriced. Would I repeat the order? Probably not. There are better options in Beijing, like Siji Mingren Roast Duck Restaurant, which I personally prefer. But would I recommend Quanjude? Probably. It’s a piece of Beijing’s culinary history, after all. Just manage your expectations and your wallet. So, there you have it. Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant: great taste, pricey, and a slice of Beijing you might want to experience at least once. Just remember, sometimes the legend is better than the reality.

In our quest to try some the more well known Beijing duck restaurants, we finally made it to this well known spot. There are many locations around the city limits, we picked this location because it was the closest to our hotel. We ordered a traditional appetizer, half a duck, the body was fried and tossed with salt and pepper, and old Beijing style noodles. The appetizer was good but a bit one the oily side. The noodles was okay, the sauce was not as salty but also lacked in traditional flavors a bit. The duck was very traditional style of duck, there was a small layer of duck fat between the skin and meat, and the skin was not as crispy compared to other places. The body was good very well seasoned and flavored. It was the highlight for me. Overall, if you want to experience a more traditional style of Beijing duck this restaurant will not let you down. However, I’m more of a fan of the more modern style of duck where the skin is super crispy and you get more condiments to go with your meal rather than just scallions, cucumber, and souse.

Well this was highly recommended to me as the place for roast duck in Beijing. I was seated at a table that wasn't set and since i was eating alone the staff found it was acceptable to use the empty seats for storage. After a waiter finally decided to stop by (even after i waved at him twice) he took my order and made sure I noticed that a 10% service charge will be added. The food arrived braised duck breast and bamboo shoots and shredded duck eggs rolls. The egg rolls were soaked with oil, which leads me to believe they we cooked in under heated oil. The duck breast was as tough as the yak jerky I had the other day. In all fairness I arrived to the restaurant at 7:40 and they close at 8 (this is the only reason they got 2 stars).

Nestled in the heart of Beijing, Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant is a culinary gem, renowned for its time-honored tradition of preparing Peking duck. The crispy, golden-brown skin crackles upon every bite, revealing succulent, tender meat beneath. Each slice is meticulously carved, maintaining the perfect balance of fat and flavor. Served with traditional accompaniments like thin pancakes, scallions, and hoisin sauce, the harmonious blend of textures and tastes is a symphony for the palate. The combination of exceptional service, inviting ambiance, and unparalleled gastronomy makes this establishment a must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Beijing.

This restaurant is a chain and it has venue in other big city. It's kind of a must in Beijing. They send you to the 4th floor even if you can eat in other floors, that is he open dining room. If you want a private room you have to ask. A 10% of service will be added to your bill if you eat in the dining room a 15% if you ask for a private room. Price is something above average but the food is really good. We took the set menu for two and was a full duck (delicious), the soup, duck liver and another vehicle cold dish. If it's not a must to eat the Beijing duck here, it's a must to eat it in Beijing.

This renowned restaurant appears to be the largest branch, boasting a five-story building. Upon entering, a courteous receptionist will direct you to the appropriate floor and provide you with a queue number. Be prepared to wait for approximately an hour. The food is satisfactory, although the signature Peking duck, while tasty, is quite oily. Two of us shared a half portion, which surprisingly turned out to be rather small. A friendly tip: if you are dining in a group, consider obtaining queue numbers from each floor and assembling on the floor where the earliest queue number is called.
