Great place to see and taste lots of local street food. It's a night market and is usually very crowded. Most stalls let you take photos even if you're not eating everything. Mostly non-veg food and a couple of dessert options. Not for vegetarians! There are also a few shops selling small toys and souvenirs, but nothing extraordinary. It's a short walk (about 20 mins end-to-end) and it's located off the main Wafujing street, which is full of hotels and malls.

Although Wangfujing Street is a touristy and crowded night market, I think everyone should pop by this place when they visit Beijing. You can find a variety of Chinese food and even strange food like fried scorpion, larvae, grasshopper, mealworms, lizard, seahorse, centipede. If you are adventurous enough, you should try it. However, the strange food are more expensive than the regular food.

Well, some bad news. Looks like the street is closed for good. They put up a poster showing that the stores will be replaced with some western cafes. Too bad, now there is no way to prove you are adventurous enough to eat scorpion. In fact, I am having trouble even finding jianbing, which used to be everywhere. Looks like the end for street food in Beijing. 😥

This place is a must, even if only for the amusement of watching the different stalls cooking and preparing all kinds of insects and critters. You’ll get to taste scorpions, lizards, snakes, worms, beetles, and other weird animals I can’t name. And even though it is set in a touristy pedestrian street, it sure has an extremely local vibe.
