Tiger Prawn Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Guangzhou City

this is the newer branch of the venerable Tiger Prawn from across the street. It has a sleeker decor and it's less mishmash quirky--the older place has displays ranging from a TinTin poster to a Menorah to Chinese deities. The new place is also roomier but that's partially a result of having less of a crowd. The older place often has a crowd spilling on to the street waiting to get in. All in all, this is not a bad place but it is oddly disappointing compared to the other one. For example, the Chinese greens in one of the dishes we ordered was tough and fibrous. The papaya salad tasted, for lack of a more precise word, odd. Staff is excellent. Next time, however, I will stick with jostling with the crowd and go to...

The food is five star good. The only people that rate this as less are tastebud deprived locals that have zero idea of what good food should taste like.

This place was a life saver. I travel to Guangzhou yearly. I dislike the local food choices so much that I loose at least 5 to 10 pounds each visit. That is because I refuse to eat.
