I highly recommend Acquasala, an exceptional Italian restaurant located in the vibrant SoHo district of Central. The restaurant captures the essence of southern Italy with its charming ambiance and decor inspired by the coastal regions. The interior is elegantly designed, predominantly in pure white tones, complemented by an open bar. If you visit in the morning or early afternoon, you'll be greeted by a relaxed and sunlit atmosphere.
Acquasala offers a selection of exquisite Italian cuisine, prepared with the freshest and finest ingredients. Both their Spaghetti and Pizza are handcrafted, and the open kitchen allows guests to witness the culinary process. They take pride in serving the most traditional and authentic Italian dishes.
𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮 - $188: I consider their Carbonara to be even better than many famous ones in town! It easily claimed the top spot on my personal ranking. If you, like me, enjoy a creamy and rich cheesy flavor, this dish is an absolute must-try. The pasta is cooked with authentic Pecorino cheese and generously topped with grated cheese. Unlike other restaurants, they use Pancetta instead of regular bacon, which adds a delightful chewiness and a balanced fat ratio. The sauce, made with egg yolk, is incredibly authentic and creamy. The pasta itself is perfectly cooked to Al Dente texture. It's truly delicious!
𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗩𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗲 - $188: I was pleasantly surprised by their Linguine dish! The clams were seasoned to perfection, with a fresh and savory taste. The garlic flavor was excellent, accompanied by a hint of mild spiciness. It was incredibly appetizing.
𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘂 - $108: Although I hesitated due to its price, I couldn't resist ordering the #lattemilkyway_tiramisu, and it was definitely worth it! The mascarpone cheese had a smooth texture, and the ladyfingers were perfectly soft and balanced. The presentation in a cute coffee cup with delicate garnish was delightful. The traditional cocoa powder topping added a touch of richness. Overall, it was a velvety delight with a light coffee liqueur flavor. Highly recommended!
I noticed that Cathay members dining at Acquasala can earn 2 miles for every HKD 4 spent, as highlighted by @openrice_hk. Don't forget to collect your miles!
Overall, Acquasala offers an authentic Italian dining experience in the heart of Central. The quality of their food, the inviting ambiance, and the attention to detail make it a hidden gem worth...
Read moreRecently, I finally visited Acquasala, located in the Soho area of Central Mid-Levels. The restaurant's decor features a vacation-style atmosphere with rattan chairs and wooden dining tables, creating a vibe reminiscent of the southern region of Italy. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, sitting at a high table still allowed for a peaceful environment, where one could comfortably enjoy good conversation and indulge in delicious food.
Roast Beef Japadog Rice ($188) was the signature dish that I had been eagerly anticipating. The dish showcased high-quality roast beef as the star ingredient. The beef was cooked to perfection, with a tender and juicy texture and a beautifully pink color. The generous portion of thinly sliced grilled beef was served on a bed of fluffy pearl rice. The tender beef paired with the tangy and flavorful sauce made from apple vinegar, mustard, and Japanese soy sauce created a mouthwatering combination. Eating the dish together with the rice provided a moist and satisfying experience, full of flavor.
Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($228) featured slow-cooked braised beef as the star, accompanied by cauliflower puree and raspberries. The beef had been simmered for a long time, resulting in a tender and succulent texture. The rich texture of the cauliflower puree and its subtle sweetness added depth to the dish. The tangy and sweet flavor of the raspberries complemented the richness of the beef, creating a well-balanced and juicy dish.
For dessert, I tried the Tiramisu ($108) recommended by the chef. It was served in a wide coffee ceramic cup, with a layer of soft and spongy ladyfingers at the bottom. Layers of mascarpone cheese and cocoa powder followed. Each bite offered a combination of concentrated coffee and liquor flavors, with a hint of sweetness. The dessert had a soft and delicate texture, and it was filled with the rich aroma of coffee.
Overall, the food at this restaurant is truly outstanding. It embodies the classic flavors of an Italian trattoria and I highly recommend trying their Roast Beef Japadog Rice. You...
