a small shop in wan chai at the rear lane but they do steak very well! due to the dinner dine-in ban, they now open a slot from 4-6pm for early dinner. i came here 10mins early but was a bit struggle to find the shop, there is no sign of the shop but at 4pm sharp they opened the gate (hooray!) once seated, they served us with some starter wine (sorry i missed the name of it). we ordered a "C. US Brant beef choice holstein short rib" and a "D. US prime holstein flank steak". they both were sets and came with soup, starter and salads. they did control the cooking time very well, to wait for the customers to finish one then came the next. very attentive to the pace and this is to make sure the food came as the right temperature! highly appreciated! both beef were made very well, just the right timing and very tender meat. when i had the short ribs was a bit messy cause i spent a bit effort on cutting to get rid of the big bone. but after the hard work, i enjoyed the beef so much! after the meal they served a dessert wine and it's free flow. although we can't drink a lot it's definitely value for price! the staff were all very nice too, they did come and ask for comments or anything else we need. we chit chat a bit and feel pity of the down on business due to the dinner dine-in ban. hope they could get though it since we need this kind of good steak house -high quality with very reasonable price! saw its recent facebook post saying people not show up after making a reservation, this is really bad! please do respect the restaurant, respect the booking!

🥩 A Hidden Gem for Steak Lovers – Backstreet Steak House, Wan Chai Tucked away on Cross Lane in Wan Chai, Backstreet Steak House is one of those rare finds that you only hear about from someone in the know. I was lucky enough to be tipped off by a good friend, and I’m so glad I followed their recommendation. The chef’s tasting menu was a masterclass in beef artistry, starting with a lobster consommé that surprised me with its delicate balance—rich seafood depth lifted by a subtle, pleasant vegetable sweetness. It was the kind of broth that warms you from the inside out. Next came the beef carpaccio, elegantly wrapped around peppery rocket lettuce. Each bite was a harmony of texture and flavor—tender, fresh, and just the right touch of boldness. The beef Parma ham paired with burrata cheese and balsamic vinegar jelly was a standout. Creamy, salty, and tangy all at once, it felt like a decadent little symphony on the plate. Then came the showstopper: the steak trio. Each cut told its own story— • 🇦🇹 Austria Belon cuts: robust and earthy • 🇺🇾 Uruguay hanger steak: lean, bold, and full of character • 🇺🇸 US Wagyu: melt-in-your-mouth luxury To round it off, the beef paste—a humble-sounding dish that delivered big on flavor—was surprisingly addictive. From start to finish, the tasting menu was a journey through textures, origins, and culinary finesse. If you’re a steak enthusiast or just someone who appreciates thoughtful cooking, Backstreet Steak House is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back—and next time, I’m bringing more friends

Saw the reviews on Google and decided to come here for our first dinner after 0+3. Was greeted by a young gentleman who was very friendly even though we had some difficulties in the communication. Ordering process was smoother after an English speaking lady came over to take our order. But we were taken aback to know that we had to order 3 main dishes even though we are a 2 + 2 family (2 adults and 2 children). Told the lady we don't mind to order more side dishes because we don't want to order too many mains but were told that it is not possible. Food came slow even though the restaurant wasn't full but because it was our first dinner, we are okay about it. But little did we expect the food to be soooo...not as advertised. The beef was too tough, the mash potato just don't taste right. The pork was too tough too. But nothing beats the spaghetti. It was extremely salty. For an Italian Truffle, there was not a hint of truffle taste or even smell. Took a mouth of it and decided to just give up. Waited for quite a while for our dessert to come (which didn't happen) so we decided to just forgo it altogether.
