Read moreThis station (on the Island Line) wasn't far at at all from my hotel on Wan Chai Road. Just a 10 minute stroll and I didn't have an Octopus card so bought my ticket with cash each time. I think it's possible to buy them in advance but I actually didn't ask the station reps. Note that it isn't possible to buy a ticket for a different line. You can only buy your tickets with cash from the stations reps but there are self-service machines to top up using a card but think this is only for the Octopus card rather than tickets. It is also possible to pay with your phone if you have a Visa card in your digital wallet. Staff member was very helpful as on my first day I got my card stuck in the gate (oops!). Once you get the hang of the process it is super easy to use the train. I think staff just assume that you know what you're doing but if you do get stuck just ask for help and a staff member will help. This station has a lift at Exit A and I used it as I had luggage and was getting to the Central line to catch the Airport Express. There was a train basically every 4 mins so I never felt the need to rush to the platform. Tidy and lots of cooling...
