Tucked away in the quiet southern part of Hong Kong, Ap Lei Chau, lies a small Western restaurant that's a treasure trove of flavors - Bowls Cafe. This unassuming eatery has become a lunchtime staple for me, thanks to its impressive 13-option lunch menu that caters to diverse tastes. From succulent steaks to seafood, rice, and pasta, there's something for everyone.
What sets Bowls Cafe apart is its exceptional value for money. The dishes are not only delicious but also reasonably priced, making it an attractive option for locals and visitors alike. The service is warm and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience.
On my previous visit, I indulged in the Spaghetti with Clam Meat and Garlic, which was a seafood lover's dream come true. The generous serving of clams was cooked to perfection, and the garlic added a rich depth of flavor.
This time, I opted for the Grilled New York Shirloin Steak, which was cooked to a reasonable quality. The set lunch allows you to choose between a refreshing soup or a soothing tea, and for a small extra charge, you can treat yourself to a decadent dessert.
Bowls Cafe may be a small, local shop, but it offers a truly satisfying dining experience that's hard to come by in Hong Kong. If you're looking for a hidden gem that serves up delicious Western fare without breaking the bank, look no further...

We found this place by accident, but its our go-to place by now if we are undecided to have for dinner when we dine out.
It is a little european (kind of french) cafe style restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. The menu has a nice variety of choices, and also a vegetarian can find a dinner here. A section of the menu changes weekly to it won't become boring. Over the past 4 weeks we had wonderful juicy and tender steaks, delicious baked rice, fantastic pasta carbonara that was cooked on the spot (al-dente) and a huge german pork knuckle that was juicy and had a super crispy skin or a generous serving of lamb chops. Generally food is more on the balanced side of flavors, not hot and spicy, but that is how the french cuisine is. They also prepare creative fusion dishes, blending Hong Kong style with european recipes. The wines on offer are carefully selected and very reasonably priced. The staff is very efficient and patiently explain things to you on the menu or make good recommendations if you are undecided. However : it is good to make reservations or give them a call before you go, because it often is fully booked. If you want to walk in you may have to wait a bit, but i think it is...

However, when I asked them, they were willing to change it for me! It was already late (almost 10pm) and I was just tired, so I didn't change it. But the steak was actually bad when they over cooked it! What a wasted ! At the end. All staff were playing with their phone didn't even pay attention to what I want.. and I just want to get my bill and leave! It was 5 mins before their closing time and I was the only person. Only local...
