Fast, Hot, Functional Food – Fairwood isn’t out to win awards, and it’s unlikely to get a mention in the Michelin Guide let alone a Michelin Star; nevertheless, don’t let this deter you! If you’re looking for functional food, or food on a budget served in a clean environment – beyond the usual western fare – then this would be for me, in Hong Kong at least, a reliable choice. The menu selection is comprehensive yet easy to understand, with pictures of the dishes available and prices clearly labeled (menus are rotated for Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, and Dinner), it makes ordering even for a non-Chinese speaker relatively easy. You can choose from a number of local favorites, including BBQ Pork, Chicken, and Vegetarian dishes served with rice, which make for well proportioned [but not overly large] comparatively inexpensive meals. In addition to Lunch and Dinner, you can also get Breakfast at any of the branches in the territory and the Porridge, Toast, Boiled Egg, and Tea are pretty good value when compared to their competition.
