A NorthWestern Chinese cuisine restaurant located at a small lane covered by stalls. It can be easily missed even if you walk near it.
This was my first visit to explore northwestern cuisine, so I picked those signature noodles (very wide flat noodle油潑扯麵) and mutton dumplings and a dish of vegetable.
The flat noodle was very smooth. The garlic and the spicy sauce gave a strong flavour. Yummy. You may choose the degree of spicyness and the amount of garlic when you place the order. The mutton dumplings were a bit dry, though. I wish it could be more juicy.
The vegetable was boiled with broth. Nice.
will likely visit again to pick some of those northwestern snacks.
2nd visit
Need to grab a quick bite, so I went to this restaurant to order its signature snack Chinese burger from Northern China. Picked a cold dish of tofu with okra also.
The cold dish was a bit expensive but the taste was ok. The burger was quite good as I added extra coriander and spring onion on top of the pork. It was full of flavour. The bread was a quite crunchy. It was different from burger bread. More like biscuit.
3rd visit
This time, picked a health home dish, tomato fried egg noodle and some boiled vegetables. Not bad.
4th visit
Picked a set lunch of sour soup beef with noodles. The sour soup was ok but the beef was no good.
5th visit
Had it mutton brisket soup noodle. The soup did not taste mutton. It was more like vegetables soup. The portion of mutton brisket was small to me but the taste was ok. For around hkd70, it was acceptable.
6th visit
Just got 40 minutes and needed some snacks. Picked 紅油抄手,boiled pork dumplings with spring onion, garlic, chilly sauce, and soy sauce. 5 pieces in an order. for hkd45. Not bad but not the best.

Read moreThe Tongguan Style Chinese Burger w/ Stewed Pork (HKD 68) is seasoned with various herbs and seasonings, giving it a very rich flavor. The pork is pulled, making each bite of the bun extremely juicy. The pork has just the right amount of fat to make the whole bun fatty and delicious.
This Roasted Lamb Ribs (HKD148; Small) is served fresh out of the oven. The ribs are roasted in such a way that the thinner part of the rib gets very smokeyh and crispy, while the thicker part of it contains meat that is juicy and fatty. You can always add a pinch of lemon juice and pepper seasoning to make the whole dish even more savory. e shop owner even provided us with plastic gloves to avoid getting our hand oily.
The Homemade Stretch Noodles w/ Spare Ribs (HKD 68) is not for the faint hearted. The noodle is heavily seasoned with chilli, garlic, parsley and a miriad of other seasonings. There is so much flavor in every bite of the noodle. The rib served with the noodle is also fresh out of the oven, as one can still see the juicy rib glittering and bubbling with heat when it is served.
The Cold Served Baby Cucumber (HKD 68) is another very impressive dish. The sauce contains a myriad of flavors, making each bite extremely enjoyable. The melon sprout is crispy, juicy and refreshing, and is a perfect match with the heavily flavored sauce. One of the most unforgettable dish we've had here tonight.
There are various goat innards contained in this Lam Entrails Soup (HKD 88). The soup is cooked to a thick consistency and is very savory. To my surprise the soup is very well cooked and the taste is not as "goaty" as I thought it would be. I'm sure people who love eating innards will...

Tucked away in the bustling streets filled with street stalls in Causeway Bay, lies a hidden culinary treasure — Liao Za Lie 嘹咋咧, offering authentic Shaanxi cuisine from north-central China.
Not bad if you're in the mood for spicy noods.
My love affair with Biang Biang noodles dates back to Beijing's Country Kitchen, which recently lost its star (oops). The thick-cut noodles, perfectly cooked to al dente, with a hint of spice, have been my guilty pleasure — so delicious, yet with consequences the next day.
Liao Za Lie 嘹咋咧 has captured my heart not only with their Biang Biang noodles but also with their Chinese thousand-layered pancakes 夾餅 featuring pork and green pepper. The scallion pancakes are a standout, achieving the perfect crispiness with a golden-brown hue. The balance of scallion oil is just right, avoiding any excess greasiness. Kudos to Liao Za Lie 嘹咋咧 for mastering the art of crafting delightful carb-centric dishes.
However, our experience took a slight downturn with the lamb skewers and fried lamb. In comparison to their other carb-based offerings, the skewers felt a bit dense, with an imbalanced meat-and-fat ratio. The fried lamb, unfortunately, leaned heavily on the fatty side, leaving each bite drenched in oily richness.
Value for Money: 7/10! With a cost of approximately HKD260 per person for dinner, Liao Za Lie 嘹咋咧 offers a reasonable deal by Hong Kong standards. It's a hidden gem worth exploring for those seeking authentic Shaanxi flavours amidst the lively streets of...
