I am extremely disappointed with the service at Mini Hotel Causeway Bay. I can't believe they have a 6+ rating. I booked the hotel through Agoda and accidentally double-booked. I emailed them to cancel, but they refused. I then called and spoke to them in person, and they insisted I keep the booking. I agreed to come and confirmed the arrangement.||After a 10-hour flight, I arrived at the hotel only to be told by the receptionist that my booking had been canceled by Agoda. When I showed them the green confirmation from Agoda, they still insisted it was canceled and blamed Agoda. They asked me to call Agoda, who confirmed my booking was still valid. I called Agoda, The receptionist argued with Agoda’s call center, yelling at both me and Agoda representative, and said to Agoda , no room all booked out! Eventually, Agoda refunded my money but could not find a replacement hotel at that night. ||To my surprise, the receptionist then called me, i was sat in the lounge, saying they had a room for a week—but at three times the original price. Exhausted after my long journey, I reluctantly agreed for one night just to rest. I clearly stated and even used hand gestures to indicate I only wanted the room for one night. Despite this, they charged me for two nights or some deposit that they never returned. I only realized the overcharge later when I returned home from my holiday.||I emailed the hotel to address the issue and waited for three months without any reply. It’s ironic how responsive they were when I tried to cancel but completely ignored me afterward.||The room itself was terrible: extremely small with just a bed and bathroom. The towels were tissue paper, and there was no space for luggage—just enough room for a backpack. The price was outrageous, at $350 AUD per night (or $175AUD if you’re charged for two nights as I was). This might be acceptable for a backpacker, but it’s absolutely not worth the price.||Awful experience. I would not recommend this hotel to...

Since it’s a budget hotel, you really do get what you pay for. The room itself is quite small, especially the bathroom. On the bright side, the air conditioning works really well, which I appreciated. However, the walls between rooms are very thin, so you can hear your neighbors. Thankfully, ours weren’t noisy during our stay.
They provide towels, but they’re very thin—almost like large facial tissues. They’re good for about three days, after which they get replaced. You can also pay around HKD10 for extras. We usually bring our own towels when we travel, so it wasn’t a big issue for us.
One thing I personally struggled with was the bed. For some reason, I felt itchy sleeping on it (though the rest of my family didn’t experience this). The mattress itself is uncomfortable—especially if you’re a side sleeper like me. I think back sleepers might not find it great either. The pillows are very soft and thin, almost like having no pillow at all. I had to fold mine in half just to get some support.
Another downside: there’s no separate chair or space to sit and relax after coming back from a long day. I don’t like sitting on the bed with outdoor clothes, so this was inconvenient.
The best part of this hotel is definitely the location. It’s very close to the MRT, 7-Eleven, and nearby malls. Plus, the Vietnamese restaurant right beside the hotel was amazing—we ended up going back several times.
Overall: It’s not the most comfortable stay, but if you’re on a budget and mainly looking for a convenient location, it does the...
Read moreThe only good thing I can say about this hotel is the location – very central and close to public transport. Sadly, once you step into the room, that’s where the positives end.||The photos online show the rooms are small, but reality by stretching your arms out and you’re already touching both walls. The bathroom was even more surprising: when sitting on the toilet, your knees extend past the door, to close it is by sitting with your legs spread apart. ||Another unpleasant was the towels. The hotel used disposable towels. They felt more like kitchen rags than bath towels. There was no explanation in the room that they had to be reused until check-out, nor that asking for a new one would mean an extra charge. Disposable, by definition, should be used once or twice, not stretched across multiple days. ||The room condition did not match the photos either. The space was old, poorly maintained, and not very clean. ||Amenities were minimal. Two flimsy paper cups were provided with no replacement, no bottled water, no fridge, and a round table with no chair. Luggage storage after check-out was limited to two pieces per room, and any extra bag was charged.||Service felt focused more on cost saving than hospitality. If policies like non-replacement of disposable towels are enforced, guests should at least be clearly informed – ideally in bold writing in the room.||Overall: The location might draw you in, but the experience will likely leave you disappointed. If you value comfort, cleanliness, or even basic hospitality, strongly recommend reconsidering...
