Mr. Steak Buffet à la minute — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

When Mr Steak was at Paterson Street, I used to go there frequently.

It was quite good back then offering lots of beef options before the whole of HK got their hands on all sorts of beef.

There were oysters and a good choice of seafood but all these are basics of a buffet these days because lobsters and seafood are offered almost everywhere.

It started to deteriorate when more tables were added to the point they were almost touching each other so I haven’t been back since.

Now they have moved to the WTC, I decided to go again and see if it has changed.

The buffet area is evidently bigger offering lobsters and crabs.

They are currently serving SAGA BEEF and freshly grilled seafood.

According to the SAGA website, Saga beef is esteemed as one of the best Wagyu beef brands in Japan.

The cattle used for our meats are fattened in adherence to the regulations of the Japan Agriculture Co-operative, and we use only Japanese black cattle registered with their cattle traceability system. Japan Meat Grading Association rates is a 4 or above for meat quality and has a BMS of 7 or above, and their Saga-Wagyu beef is rated between 2 and 4 for meat quality and has a BMS of 6 or below.

There were other items such as Chinese soups, drinks bars, spinning salad bowl bar so it was quite good.

Every night people can have their messages written on plates and surprise their friends/family etc.

Customer service was quite good that night because they collected used plates and gave you new napkins regularly and even offered to help you...

I went to Mr Steak for a lunch buffet with a friend and honestly found the experience quite disappointing. When we arrived, the place was already very packed, and the atmosphere felt messy. Many people were rushing for food, and there was not much order.

Considering the name “Mr Steak”, I expected steak to be the main highlight. But there was actually only one type of beef being served. The staff carved thin slices from a single piece of meat and gave out just one small slice per person each time. The staff member serving the steak was quite rough and just tossed the meat onto the plate without much care. I ended up getting only about six slices in total, each one smaller than half the size of my palm.

There were other kinds of food available, but the overall dining environment didn’t feel enjoyable. During the meal, there was even an accident nearby where someone got splashed with hot water in the crowd. The place didn’t feel like a premium or proper...

First thing to point out that entering the restaurant the reception guy or the manager who has no name tag first thing he ask me if I knew how much was the buffet here and for per person and point out that it was expensive. I told him I knew that cause I made a booking I felt the very mad and uneasy cause there was a local couple next in line with us, Just by entering the restaurant it wasn't a pleasing and good reputation for this restaurant. When he realize that I made a booking his mode kind of change.

I think the reason he said that cause my family wasn't Chinese and saw that we were from Philippines and I just came back from the office I don't know why would he judge my family like we cant pay for eating in this restaurant.

Please change that its 2022 educate yourself not to judge people for their nationality or for the way they dress. Over all experience the food was great but customer...
