🍮 Signature Dessert: Double-Skin Steamed Milk
The star of the menu is the double-skin steamed milk pudding, a silky-smooth custard crafted from fresh milk, egg whites, and sugar. The “double skin” refers to the delicate layers that form on top during the steaming process, offering a unique texture and rich dairy flavor. Served either hot or cold, this dessert is a must-try for visitors seeking an authentic taste of Hong Kong’s culinary heritage.
🌟 Variations and Other Offerings
Beyond the classic version, Yee Shun offers variations such as ginger-infused steamed milk pudding (薑汁燉奶), which adds a warm, spicy note to the creamy base. Other options include red bean toppings and chocolate-flavored puddings. For those looking for savory options, the menu also features items like pork chop buns and macaroni soup, reflecting the cha chaan teng’s diverse offerings.

Read moreThis place is a local favorite for an after meal snack and never paid any attention to it till now. The double-skin steam milk pudding has been the signature food around here for decades and frankly speaking I'm trying it for the first time. I pass by this place often when ever I'm in HK but never really thought of trying it until now. Its a bit hard to get a seat as its always full all the time so I waited for a lull in the off-peak hours to actually get in. Turnover is very fast as people leave once they are finished cause the place is kinda tight and the tables are small. You get to rub elbows literally during peak hours. The milk pudding itself is every soft with a silky texture to it. Prefer the hot version over the cold. Regardless of what toppings you get, overall the milk pudding itself is quite comforting. Its always busy around here so don't expect much engagement with the staff. Just order or point to the menu then your food will come out less than 10mins. Quite efficient without the usual chit chat. If you happen to be in the Causeway area, look this OG dessert place up. Nothing fancy, poker-faced staff, place is very cramped... looks nothing out of the ordinary but the double-skin milk pudding is famed...
Read moreUnfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. The service lacked professionalism and courtesy — there was no sense of service mind from the staff throughout the visit.
After placing our order, we were suddenly told that the restaurant would be closing in 5 minutes, and were asked to eat quickly. This was quite frustrating, as there was no prior notice about closing time before the staff took our order.
What made the situation even more upsetting was that shortly after we finished eating, local customers arrived and were allowed to order food and dine in comfortably, without any mention of the restaurant closing soon. This left us feeling unwelcome and unfairly treated.
Overall, it was an unpleasant experience, and I would hesitate to return or recommend this...
