The Alchemist Cafe (Causeway Bay) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Altitude of staff and quality of service are very nice.

After dinner somewhere with my girlfriend, we wanted to have dessert and randomly walked in to this Cafe.

After being ushered to a table, we ordered waffles, something like apple pie and hot chocolate without whipped cream (my favorite drink. I normally try hot chocolate when it's available in a new cafe / restaurant).

The waffle with strawberry and ice-cream as toppings makes it look pleasant. Billowing aroma is another temptation to our noses .

When we eat it, to our surprise, It's warm to hot, the texture is so soft but not slimy (contrast to most of the stiff ones outside), it's so delicious that we all agree to try it again next time.

As for the apple pie, sweet but not much. Since we tried the waffle first, by the time we had the apple pie it's cool down a bit though it's still warm. It's tasty.

As for the hot chocolate, it's not the typical ones (sweet and sugary ) offered by most of dinning places. It's a bit bitter (doesn't cacao taste bitter? 😊). That's my favorite type of hot chocolate. If it's hotter, it would be perfect to me but I still re-ordered one without whipped cream.

What to improve? I would say the space between tables could be somewhat wider.

We arrived in Causeway Bay at around 9:10 PM, but many restaurants had already stopped taking orders. When we saw that the alchemist cafe was still open and welcoming customers, we didn’t hesitate to go in.

Sharing a single-person set meal plus an extra side dish was more than enough for two people. We had roasted chicken with broccoli, paired with a cup of fruit tea, and also ordered a side of sweet potato fries. The flavors were quite decent, and finding a proper dinner at that hour in Causeway Bay turned out to be more challenging than expected. Half the things in the menu is not available.

Lamb, and all other main courses are not available until after 5:00. I mean, that’s crazy. A restaurant that doesn’t serve main courses! Who does that? A few dishes here and there are also not served, such as the duck breast. Therefore 50% of the menu is not available. At all.

So all that remains are the pasta, pizza, and snacks. But if I wish to have meat? I only got the PorkChop. I think if they don’t want to serve 50% of the menu, they should have a lunch menu, and advertise it, so...
