This restaurant is popular for its desserts & drinks. But since we were starving (and one can’t survive on just desserts 🤣) we thought of trying out their out their food instead. Note 1. Strictly not for vegans or vegetarians unless you want to gorge yourself with french fries šŸŸ

Note 2. they have some good looking servers. So if you are into good looking Asian guys, you can try visiting this place & see if they are still therešŸ˜„

Jokes apart, Here’s what we ordered and an honest review of each of the dishes.

Chilli prawns with garlic bread: portion wise it was good. They had around 5 tiger prawns and some garlic bread. Taste wise also it was quite good. The tomato base tasted tangy and fresh. Be mindful of the red chilli šŸŒ¶ļø slices. They are hot. If you can’t take spicy food , just remove the chilli slices manually or ask them to remove it beforehand and it’s fine.

Shrimp tempura with lime mayo: despite the fact that the shrimp was really fresh, the taste was greatly affected by the tempura cover which was oozing oil. Would recommend the restaurant to may be serve the shrimps on a parchment paper ā˜ŗļø

Pancetta white mushroom onsen egg tagliolini in cheese sauce: Portion wise I’d say it was very good portioning considering the price. Can be easily shared by 2 people. But I ate it all (Starving you see). Taste wise very good especially the cheese sauce (but it felt more like soup as it was a bit too watery). The onsen egg was perfect though. Overall a great dish for people who like cheesy balcony stuff.

2 things I didn’t like was The service. It could have been better. The response time of staff on the ground was slower despite the fact that the restaurant wasn’t fully packed. The menu. It could be better if the key ingredients especially meat & types of cheese etc were...

November 2024 Back here for dinner about 11 months later. Enjoyed the grilled prawns linguine and the panchetta pasta, as well as the souffle.

Jan 2024 Back again after a few years. We ordered the smoked duck pasta, which was nice though we felt the sauce was on the sweet side, and could have had more garlic. There were three thin slices of duck. The matcha souffle took 30 minutes and was good and soft, and delish, though it sid cost more than the pasta.

Payment this time includes credit card or Octopus card.

2017 We will be back as most of the dishes were quite good.

We started with chicken wings, but that was way below expectations as we could taste the freezer burn. The pasta with meatballs was better - the tomato base was weak but the meatballs were very good. We also had the risotto with truffles and chicken thigh, which was delicious.

For dessert, we had the salted caramel hot cakes, which were excellent.

Do note this is a cash only place.

(Added edit — 2nd visit)

Came back for lunch again. Ribs were good, though wish there was a bigger piece. The bbq sauce was tasty and not too sweet. We went for the risotto with chicken again and it was delicious, as was the salted...

The food was acceptable. But the souffle took a long 40 minutes to arrive on our table. Those customers that sat down way after us got their orders but we had to wait. And wait. Of course, the manager had followed up on the order for us but we still had to wait. And wait. Yes, it got as boring as reading this post. BUT read on for I'm saving the best for the last! The biggest problem with this restaurant is it's poor SOP, that is, if they have any at all. They don't segregate the duties of serving the customers and cleaning the tables. None of the servers wore gloves. They all cleared the tables after the customers were done. And they used their bare hands to remove the leftovers and napkins from the dirty plates. Then, without washing or sanitising their hands, they picked up "clean" silverware and glasses of water and food and handed them to the customers. They also put dirty dessert glasses in the same tray as the glasses of water that they served their customers. You know, mixing up the dirty with the clean so that nothing is clean. An awesome sight! Unacceptable on a normal, good day, not to mention that we're still neck deep in the Covid Pandemic. Go at your own...

The food came out promptly and pretty close together so we could wait to eat everything at once. They were playing pop music in the open kitchen right by us but it was strangely muffled so it wasn’t bothersome at all. The ordering system is very strange: you have to order through a website, except for desserts, which you have to flag down a waiter to order. The service was half-hearted and not very courteous, which is normal for Hong Kong diners, but this restaurant is clearly trying to be more upscale. We ordered the cheapest pasta, a faux-carbonara, which tasted exactly like the Ristorante speciale frozen pizza (compliment). It tasted great, but you can very clearly tell that they specialize in desserts—the apple cinnamon napoleon was excellent, we want to return—while the savory food felt more like someone in the back trying their best. It was good in a home cook way, while the dessert was good in a professional chef way. I do not recommend the mango sorbet; if you insist, maybe try it with less ice and less sweet? The latte came out lukewarm. TL;DR: would return, but then order only desserts. The view is amazing.
