With so many so-called 'boutique hotels' popping up across Asia, the word 'boutique' has lost its shine, often being code for 'not of international standards' (especially in SE Asia). The Lanson Place Hong Kong brought back my faith in the word 'boutique'. Everything about our experience there was first class. The lobby / reception area is on the 1st floor, accessed via elevator only and is set out more like an exclusive and intimate business lounge. There's a grand-piano in the middle of the main area, with lounge seating at tables - all having USB and charge ports for phones and laptops so that guests can sit, read, work etc. One of the things that kept us going back down to the lounge was the library there. There are actually an amazing selection of books in several languages. We spent many hours there just sitting in the great atmosphere after work winding down with a cocktail from the bar (which were great) and reading. There was a good selection of music in the background that was a great fit with the surroundings, at a volume that wasn't intrusive. You could tell that a lot of thought went into the room planning. Given the space constraints of rooms in Hong Kong in general, the rooms here are amazingly large - and all of them have kitchen facilities (microwave, stove, oven etc), ironing board and lots of storage space for both clothes and 'stuff' in case you're staying there for more than a few days. Bathroom was a decent size for Hong Kong - very clean, good water pressure, good responsive hot / cold water balance and there is even a mini laundromat on the 2nd floor that costs 20HKD a wash. You're encouraged to go down to the 7-11 / shops nearby and fill the minibar yourself which is great - you can choose what actually goes in there. The TV functions were great - many on demand movies and cable stations for free and it even has an interface with the 'HANDY' phone device that's given to you on check-in. The HANDY device is a mobile phone, loaded with apps and other information that turned out to be really useful during the stay. The most useful part about the handy device for us was that it had a SIM card that gave you free local and international calls to many countries, as well as being able to be used as a mobile Wifi hotspot when needed around town. We found some great places to eat using the loaded information too - not just 'high end' places were listed. Even hole in the wall noodle shops which turned out to be great. The service was great - breakfast was a small but good selection of hot and cold food in the main lounge area. It was never crowded and you could also order things off the menu that were included in breakfast (eggs, pancakes etc). Lanson place is the antithesis of that gaudy hotel lobby'd Hong Kong hotel that has hoards of tourists passing through it. It was classy, elegant, spacious and 'just right' for our business trip this past week. We will definitely be back.

Situated at the heart of HK, nothing beats the location of this place. Recently renovated, relatively high tech. You can control room lightings, curtain, tv etc all in your mobile. There is a laundry room on the same floor as gym. 3 sets of washer and dryer. (Fyi it says commercial dryer but takes 1hr+ to dry) We booked studio residence which comes with a kitchenette. There is no need to cook in hk thus its def under utilised. We booked the room with 2 beds. However the bed turned out to be so tiny that I cannot/dare not to turn or toss during the night (imagine we stayed 7 days, every night at least me, had to sleep like a mummy.) The bed mattress was extremely hard that on the 2nd day we both had severe back/waist pain. We requested for an extra layer of mattress but it didnt help at all. Upon check in, I was told full breakfast not included but we can enjoy grab-and-go (only 1 mini pastry and 1 drink) everyday on a complimentary basis. I only ordered once and stopped due to the bad service. However upon check out, they charged it to my room (hk$220) which is appalling. The staff told me my room portfolio does not say its free so he can’t help. I needed to catch my flight so I left the hotel in a rush with issue unsolved. There is a follow-up email later to apologize for the mistake. One last note, we told the concierge to pre book a cab but next day the cab was 15mins late with meter turned on. The driver told us the staff provided the wrong address… After all the above, hotel did offer for free upgrade for our next stay but I doubt if I’d like to go back….

Edit: Business attempted to hide my review so that it could only be seen if my account was logged in, rendering it invisible to anyone else. An incredibly disappointing stay. Could hear the boiler/facilities room from within my room all night long. I am by no means a light sleeper but it was simply too loud to bear. Grab and go breakfast was fine, but on the last day I received a cup of tea that wasn’t even half full… front desk also seemed entirely unaware of SLH Within benefits. When I checked in I wasn’t informed of my benefits. Upon requiring the young man said that he couldn’t see it in their system, and that he’ll update me. Later in the day I got a call informing me that I do indeed have the benefits I received at time of booking, and that the credits will be applied when I checkout. Yet when I checked out, the front desk produced a folio without any credits or breakfast applied. Upon further inquiry they took north of 20 minutes to accomplish what should’ve been automatically accomplished, which is the case in every single property I’ve stayed at elsewhere. The room itself had some cleanliness issues also. I was the only occupant of my room and I have short hair. Yet every single evening I came back I could find long hair on the rug. Overall, a gravely disappointing experience and a sore aberration in a city filled with otherwise competently run hotels.

The Lanson Place hotel is an amazing place to stay at for your next trip to Hong Kong. When first walking in you are mesmerized by this calm yet refreshing scent that is filled throughout the entire floor. Their decor is simple yet elegant. The big green marbeled wall reminds me of Jade, a clash between heritage and luxury. The check-in desk is on the 2nd floor, where you will also been able to see the lounge on both sides. The lounge feels very cozy, with a black grand Piano placed on one end with drinks and food accompained next to it. You will find a hidden small bar on the other side of the lounge.

My room was well equpied(because it was a studio) with everything I needed. The bathroom was very clean. It has white marbled floors and an over head shower so the water can cover your entire body. The bed and living room were split between the reversable television. I espcially liked that they had a master control next to the bed and another one by the door. The panel controls all the lights(excluding the bathroom) and the curtains. I was quite surprised by the buttons for the curtain. When they opened, I was able to see a snippet of the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong and when I closed them, they were able to fully keep the room in the mist of darkness even when the sun was up outside. A lot of things suprised me because of how smartly designed they were. They also had a small gym which they had all the basics that you would find in any gym. Also a laundry room next to it. Moreover, I also do love their services that I got to find out later on. For instance, it was raining once when I was heading out but did not have an umbrella on me. And upon walking out, one of the staff kindly handed me and umbrella. They had an unlimited number of umbrellas for their residences. I think these are presumably the little things that I do not account for when looking for a hotel. Overall I really enjoyed my stay. It may not have all the amenities that I was hoping for but it is definitely one that I will remember and highly reccomend anyone interested to try. Thank you so much to the staff of The Lanson...

The stay was really great and exceeded my expectations in every aspect, especially for guests like me who need to stay for a long time.||1. Excellent location: the location of the hotel is simply impeccable!Surrounded by shopping malls, hospitals and restaurants, it is very convenient for daily life needs or temporary shopping and dining, and you can solve a lot of problems on foot.|2. The room is spacious and comfortable:| Lots of space: the room was very spacious in terms of area to use, not at all confining and very comfortable to stay in.| Bright and clean: the room was well lit, very bright, and extremely clean and tidy, which made it soothing as soon as you entered.| Thoughtful facilities (kitchen): the most pleasant surprise for me was that the room was equipped with an induction hob and simple kitchenware! This is so practical for long stay guests. When you don't want to go out to eat or want to simply cook something, you can do it yourself, which is very convenient and greatly improves the convenience and flexibility of living.|3. Warm and attentive service:| Friendly attitude: from check-in to departure, all the service staff contacted had a very good attitude, warm and friendly, making you feel at home.| Cleaning in time: the room cleaning was done in time, and cleaned especially clean, meticulous, every day back to the room is like new, this point makes me especially satisfied.|4. Personalised service (special praise): Here I would like to praise Miss Dan Zhou who was in charge of our room! Her service was really impressive. She was able to remember the preferences of long-staying guests and took the initiative to provide us with preferred tea bags and coffee capsules. This meticulous, humane and personalised service made guests feel truly valued and cared for, and greatly enhanced the warmth and sense of belonging of the...
