the service at matchali is really good- the staff are very friendly and explain whatever you need!

however i wish i could praise their matcha more- we got a grey latte, apple hojicha cold brew and peppermint matcha (their seasonal special).

the matcha was extremely bitter and astringent... the peppermint didnt really sweeten it or make it nicer. in fact i think it might have worsened it (coming frm an absolute peppermint mocha and candy cane lover), the peppermint candy cane made the astringent matcha harder to drink 😭

BUT on the plus side. the apple hojicha cold brew was life changing. the lightness of the apple combined with the subtle, more roasted taste of hojicha really uplifted the whole drink! i think it was executed so well and was refreshing on my palate. the grey latte wae also super interesting, with black sesame, charcoal (I THINK?) and milk as its key ingredients. i dont really like black sesame, but this was right up my alley because it wasnt too overpowering!

can i just say that selling a 30g tin of matcha for hk$46 is so expensive 😭 really wanted to get their merch or matcha equipment but it was pretty overpriced imo :(( too broke for it! would like to try their food options next time tho bc their menu fr...

My 2nd time here. All seats no empty, wow, nice and good business huh. So I'd like to wait for a while, as last month the Motcha cheese cake taste that still in my memory.

Alright, I waited for a while to look around any empty seat at left hand side tables... A couple came afterwards, seem waiting as well, but at right hand side tables... How come late comers would not follow the line-up?

I then went to ask the staff any single line-up system for customers waiting tables?

Huh, the lady staff replied, "...No. We don't have such..."

Ou-la-la ~ What amazing, that is, ok, she meant, "if you find empty seat, go on, if can't find empty seat, I can't help."

She didn't show customers how they concern customers' satisfaction.

I don't recommend to wait for seats there. They DON'T know what is customer satisfaction, they DON'T have any syetem to serve you. They don't care.

Of course, when lucky if you find empty seats, huh, congratulations.

Sum Up: Not recommended. Don't go here, I'd recommend you to go lobby lounge in Conrad or Island...

My favourite place in Hong Kong! Its the most delicious Matcha (Latte). Refreshing and delicious and not sweet (like so many other Matcha Lattes). Since Mathali opened I basically stopped drinking coffee. The slow release of the caffeine in Matcha suits me much better (non of the coffee caffein anxiety and shakiness). The grey Latte (with black sesame) with a shot of Matcha is my favourite although I tried and liked everything on offer. On a hot day I always crave the classic iced Matcha Latte with oat milk! My two sons love Mathali too. Their favourite is the Strawberry Latte with oat milk and the black sesame, nut protein balls (believe it or not they prefer the Strawberry shake to ice cream!). I buy the protein balls for at home and have at least one a day. The matcha canelé is to die for too: Crispy on the outside and creamy matcha on the inside! I love the vegan matcha cookies and the Matcha croissant too! The interior is clean, simple but yet warm and elegant.
