Walk around the streets of Hongkong and mango mochi isn’t an unfamiliar sight! To be honest, most places selling mango mochi are pretty similar and the mochi is pretty much the same, but this is a reliable spot with consistent quality. This little known mochi takeaway stand is part of a canto eatery Chui King Lau in Wanchai. Their mango mochi is so so good, with a whole slab of sweet ripe mango wrapped in thick and chewy mochi. If you like durian, you are going to love their durian mochi! Must try in Hongkong.

Ran into this restaurant by chance, I bought a peanut and mango mochi and it was amazing! Even I ate 6 hours after purchase it’s still soft and tender, the mochi melts in your mouth. Peanut is the most classic to go choice but I would also recommend the mango, it’s sweet and fresh, good choice as dessert. Too bad I didn’t buy the durian mochi. Can really compete with Japanese mochi, maybe that’s y I see a jpop poster in the restaurant. Lol

Their lunch set is reasonable and staff are friendly. I recommend the salty bake chicken ,it got the vintage favor that you can only find at few old style restaurants. Love that they will serve you a free dessert soup with your lunch. Though their hygiene is not good, especially the table cloth and suggest to wash the cup n bowl.

One of a few selling Kwangtung East lake cuisine restaurant still operate in the territory. East Lake cuisine is famous for it salty baked chicken, Braised pork belly with preserved vegetables and tofu dishes. This cuisine used to be quite popular in the 70s and 80s because they charged cheap when people didn't earn much. At the height of its popularity, there were scores of restaurants bearing this same name scattered in all areas. But as people gets richer and earned more, East Lake cuisine slowly being faded out to give ways to better...

This restaurant has been around for more than half a century, although the owners have changed hands several times. It is well-known for serving Hakka cuisines in which Sliced Pork with Preserved Vegetable is one of my favourites. However, for recent years, lean sliced pork (sometimes without any fat attached) has been used instead of the traditional half-fat-half-lean. It has become less tasty than before, although this substitute should be good for your health. I really treasured the traditional taste, as I only order this dish ...

I had decided on some ham-egg rice (火腿煎蛋飯)for $50, but after got seated the price suddenly went up to $72 because "dinner-time", but then it was lowered back to $65 as soon as the staff heard me speaking Chinese. I should've left at this point...

The quality of the ham-egg rice was revolting by the way: Around 3 eggs, 4 small slices of probably SPAM ham and half a kilogram of rice. For $65. (Some wulong tea was provided for free though.) In the nearby food market you can two, much more nicely prepared meals...
