🍧 Icegreen (Causeway Bay) Review: A Mochi Lover's Paradise! My friend and I were walking down Jaffe Road in Causeway Bay yesterday and felt so thirsty, so we decided to stop by Icegreen to cool down with some dessert. We added mochi to all three items—it was a total mochi feast! 🤣
Mango Pomelo Sago Shaved Ice (with Mochi) ($88.0) 🥭 We chose the "Golden Ratio" with standard small tapioca balls and added mochi. The shaved ice was huge when it arrived!
Taste: The mango flavor was rich and sweet 🥭, and there was plenty of pomelo pulp, which wasn't bitter. The "Golden Ratio" must refer to its perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The ice base was very fine and fluffy, not the coarse, crunchy kind. The best part was the chewy mochi, which, combined with the small tapioca, created a wonderfully rich texture!
Pineapple Fried Ice (Seasonal) ($56.0) 🍍 We saw "Seasonal" and just couldn't resist trying it!
Taste: This was so refreshing! 🍍 The pineapple aroma was prominent, and it had the fresh sweetness of real fruit, not the sugary taste of canned pineapple. It came with lemon jelly and fresh pineapple slices, making it tangy and very appetizing. The "fried ice" (ice rolls) base was very smooth. And of course, we added mochi again—surprisingly, pineapple and mochi actually go really well together.
D24 Durian Mochi Slush ($52.0) 🤤 This was the highlight! We specifically requested "less sweet" and "blended ice" (slush) just to taste the real durian flavor.
Taste: Wow! The moment I took a sip, the D24 durian flavor just exploded—"BAM!" 🤤 It was incredibly rich, clearly made with real fruit, not artificial flavoring. Because we chose "less sweet," it wasn't cloying at all. The craziest part was that there were mochi bits inside the drink, turning it into a "drinkable durian dessert." The texture was superb!
Conclusion 💸 For this location in Causeway Bay, the price is quite reasonable for such high-quality, generously portioned, and unique desserts. If you're a big fan of mochi, you absolutely have to try Icegreen! They put a lot of thought into their...
Read moreI been wanting to try this place ever since I saw some IG videos of this place. The shaved ice dessert looks very elegantly made and the shaved ice looks very smooth. Visited on a weekday afternoon and it was not very busy. Didn't have to wait for a table and was available immediately. Was then given a menu and then made me looking quite confused. If you look at the menu the items looks pretty similar and yet they are under different categories like the icy, flake and shave ice. I didn't really ask though I assumed could be due to the difference between the texture of the ice and whether it was served in a bowl or in a cup. In order not to let myself be confused further, I just zoomed at the word 'signature' and told myself it shouldn't go wrong with ordering the signature items. I picked my favourite taro and so I ordered the Taro Red Bean Icy. Didn't wait long before the dessert was served. It definitely looks nicer in real than in the photos and it was really high-end looking which justifies for the cost, though it was slightly pricey I felt it was quite alright for a shop in such a central and busy location. I have to say I did quite underestimate the size of the dessert. I was expecting it to be small so I could order another flavour to try, yet I was quite defeated after finishing one because it was too filling and immediately lost the notion of trying the 2nd one. I think I should have ordered the flake which is in a smaller cup size if I wanted to try another flavour. Nevertheless I have to say the icy was really good and I liked it a lot. The ice is so smooth and soft you literally cannot feel it when you put it into the mouth. The taro paste was so smooth and yet not so sweet makes you feel its not so sinful eating it after all. The highlight has to be the mochi which is inside the dessert. Usually the mochi hardens under low temperature but this one was able to retain the milkiness and chewiness all throughout eating the dessert. Just 1 word to describe the mochi: exceptional. Highly satisfying and highly...
Read moreI am bloody embarrassed to have dined at this place.
Before stepping into the shop, we asked the staff if we can go in as we have a puppy with us, and the staff said sure, please sit all the way at the back.
After I have set down and ordered with my friend, here was what unfolded.
Lady in glasses sent the food to the wrong table. Lady in glasses asked if we had ordered it, after noting that we have a puppy, went on and said very loudly “Do you know you have to ask us permission before you bring the dog in?”
We politely smiled and let her know that we have asked even before coming in and the staff has said go ahead.
She then walked away, brought back a new bowl, then in front of us, turned to 2 other tables while gesturing to us seated at the corner if the rest of their guests are fine with us having a puppy in their establishment.
My friend and I sat there with immediate sulks to our face.
We had asked for permission. They have the right to say no. Which is fine, we will respect their wishes and find somewhere else.
Gesturing to us and raising her voice to embarrass us is a no-no in f&b industry which also falls under hospitality.
They should have asked the guests at the remaining tables if they are fine before we enter their premises.
I have never ever felt more humiliated while dining outside.
Also, their desserts were pure mediocre and tasteless. The only good thing is the A/C is strong enough during this summer.
Never again will I even think of stepping...
