Momiji Chaya — Restaurant in Kowloon

Looks simple, comfortable environment. The creamy udon with the tamago egg was ultra bland. It tasted like thick milky soup with udon. I wouldn't recommend it although the photo looked attractive. If kids like creamy udon then maybe you can order it for them. It's soft and easy to eat but the little bits of black pepper might be strong for small kids. My husband's pork chop rice was fairly good. Crunchy pork，not ultra oily but the portion was a bit small for one adult male. For dessert I wouldn't recommend the waffle with green tea and mochi. The green tea was ultra rich and borderline bitter. Mochi had no taste at all. All the fruit in the dessert was still frozen and gave me pain in my teeth to eat. Not the best way to end a meal.

Staff were a little on the short tempered side and no smile at all. We noticed them looking at customers who were leaving and talking about them. There was not only one staff member that was like this, it seemed that all the wait staff were waiting to gossip rather...

Momiji Chaya is a matcha specialty spot I stumbled upon on Komachi Street as I walked from the train station toward the Kamakura Daibutsu. Feeling hungry and not having planned ahead, I decided to pop in because of its inviting, zen-like ambiance. The atmosphere was light and peaceful, perfect for a quick break during my travels.

I ordered a bento set meal, which was okay overall. It didn’t stand out as the best meal I had, but it was clean, satisfying, and did the job of filling me up. The place was spacious, and I appreciated the calm environment—it felt like a good place to recharge.

Since my phone battery was low during that time, I didn’t have a chance to check the reviews or plan ahead. While I wouldn’t call it a must-visit, it was a solid, no-fuss stop for a meal. If you’re in the area and in need of a quick bite, it works, but don’t expect anything extraordinary. By the way, they said their matcha ice cream here is good which I should have tried while...

What a shame for Japanese restaurants, the food was fantastically done with a great atmosphere to eat at. Although that being said, the service was down bad. The waiters took forever to deliver the food and they didn’t really seem to care about their job. This place would be a spectacular place if there was proper service. Wouldn’t recommend unless you want to wait 30 minutes...
