Finding a restaurant with vegetarian food options is a serious challenge in Macao, and when we got to know that “Woodlands” has its branch in Macao, we sighed a huge relief! Being a pure vegetarian restaurant, options in both South and North Indian cuisine are plenty!
On our two days stay in Macao, we had a hearty and tasty lunch there - Paneer butter masala nd Dal makhani with Parotha nd Tawa rotis and a South Indian platter of Idli-Vada with chutney nd Sambar along with a cup of piping hot filter coffee ( which my husband and I shared) on the first day. On the second day, we both opted for their Signature North Indian thali, which consisted of 2 rotis/ puris, 3-4 varieties of sabzis( mix of South Indian nd North Indian, though ), Dal makhani nd Sambar, Biryani, Raitha, pappad and Moong dal halwa. The kids chose to have their standard favourite Paneer sabzi nd Tawa rotis. Again this meal would have been incomplete ( for me esp, hailing from South India) without my caffeine kick - Filter kaapi!!
The ambience is soothing and the place is kept spic and span. The staff is affable and the service, quick. I especially liked the way Pon ( one of the staff) attended to us. Polite and courteous, he even helped us estimate the portion required , so we don’t order in excess! That was genuinely sweet of him.
So all you vegetarian tourists visiting Macao, u dont need to survive on just FAL( though I must mention that we had some best quality cherries and Persimmons in Macao, bought from Red market area ) and “GHAR ke SNACKS”!! Woodlands can more than fill your stomach...

Read moreThe food is good-average, however, the prices are high and the serving sizes were very very small.
We are vegetarian and eat Indian everywhere we travel. The food here was average all in all. I would not recommend it over other Indian restaurants in Macau but we did not have dosas - maybe they are better?
Me, my wife and my 9 year old son ate here and paid just over 500 mop for supper. We did not have drinks, only water, and we did not have any leftovers. At any other Indian restaurant in Macau, after paying just over half of this much, we would leave with at least enough left over to eat Indian the next night at home and probably also enjoy a beverage.
At Woodlands in Hong Kong we received a complimentary starter but not here. I don't think it's the same. We thought Indian Garden was expensive for Macau before, but not anymore. I think they cater to some people who don't realize that any Indian restaraunt can cook vegan and vegetarian?
The restaurant is nicely decorated. The people who work there are very nice. Unfortunately we won't be back because there is just better Indian food in Macau for...
