Our visit was average at best. I was expecting above average of other restaurants in same mall because of DinTaiFung brand.
There was water leak right above my friend. True, the water leak from the condensations is not fixable immediately. And yes DinTaiFung is always full at dinner time. But without apologies just moved our table 3 inches so the drip not fall onto the food or right on my friend's shoulder was not something i expected. The staff politely asked and moved our table of 8 few inches. No management came to check on us. the whole dinner all i can think of was my friend being polite not to complaint? Was the leak still drip on his seat? Would the drip get onto his food? It was an embarrassment the whole dinner. You can imagine restaurants table to table space is already a premium, now we moved even closer to another table. Luckily the other people on that table was very nice and don't mind our move. Basically my mind was totally consumed by what my friend had to tolerate and will he get sick after.
As a result, i cannot comment on food, or anything else. I still feel horrible for my friend to date. Yes we could have left, but if you were a din Tai Fung fans, you would know how difficult to get a table. In addition, it was a challenge to immediately find another same class of restaurant, how to mobilize for 8 ppl, our anticipation of the dumplings and other dishes.
There could have many things i could have and should have done. But it's already over. No one got sick.
Management if u read this, i am not asking for free stuff. I am not trying to dramatized the situation either. I hope the AC condensation issue is addressed. And pls inform the staff it is most basic restaurant training to call this out to the manger on duty to see and at least as a courtesy to come address the health and sanitary concern.

Read moreGreat Taiwanese style cuisine, 1 Michelin star great technique, great food to be shared with friends, family and loved ones for some of the most epic dim sums, fancy xiumai and what not refined Chinese cuisine like they know how to. I’ve been to the one in CWB and there is one in Central as well at the time I went there. Bit pricey but worth the value, the food is delicious only drawbacks is that in Shatin your attendant may not speak English so it would be a must having a Chinese speaker (Cantonese or mandarin)with you if you go through, although I reckon they may have the English menus (in Shatin only) also mind the queue (they ll give you a ticket number).
Defenetly a highly commendable place for...
Read moreTerrible service. Even you were talking in English or Cantonese in front of the staff (all in white shirts), they would just speak Mandarin to you. I don't expect waiters wearing a smiley face all day, but don't keep giving customers a sad face. You won't hear please, thank you, help from the staff (all in white shirts), but don't, not allow instead. Btw, don't think you can enjoy your food too long there, you are only allowed to stay there for 75 mins.
Initially thought about 1 star only, but the food quality and the good service from a waitress (in red shirt) and the lady who did the food delivery saved another one (for your reference, their flagship in Taipei provides...
