This hotel looks outdated it is a building from 1932. The good thing is that the rooms are spacious and it is really directly at one of the main shopping streets from Shanghai and a 10-15 minute walk to the famous bund area for watching the skyline.
Recently my second stay here and this time I see they improved not only reception speaks good English now, I also see some renovations.
As said the good thing is the location, spacious rooms and also they clean well.
WiFi is open no difficulty captive portal but as you are inside China useless if you do not have a good VPN.
There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the direct area of the hotel.
Subway station people's square is also close. So very convenient. Also subway east Nanjing road is walkable.
I used to take the exit "Nanjing road pedestrian street" and you get to the hotel with 5 minute walk.
From the airport pvg take line 2 till people's square (cheapest) or take first the maglev and enjoy a short very high speed ride and transfer to line 2 at the end of the maglev ride.
Get your breakfast in the area of the hotel. Jian Bing is great but there are dozens of other cheap street food options. Setup your alipay before you come in China and for good and fun coffee use the robot machine close to the hotel at Nanjing road.
I had a solo stay in this hotel.
Enjoy your stay! Shanghai is...
Read moreI do not exagerate when I say that this was the worst hotel I ever stayed in. It definitely deserves a negative star rating.
It already started at the check in where the receptionist mumbled something and impolitely replied to my question if he spoke english: CHECK IN OR NOT?! He then charged 3000¥ not explaining what the money was for as our room price was different..
The elevator then took us to our room, which shocked us after the pictures on the Website. They surely came from a different era when the hotel first opened. But that barack was nothing like the pictures. The aircon didn't work and the window couldn't close properly so we heard all the noise from Shanghais busiest street.
The breakfast was.. well let me say that we only enjoyed the cold egg and rubber bacon one time out of the 7 we booked it. Also because the buffet staff was horribly impolite and the dishes dirty.
We decided to check out earlier as we couldn't bear the conditions and although a staff member told us we would get a refund for the unused nights, we had to pay an even higher rate for leaving earlier. At that point I was charged the room rate. No 'Goodbye' no 'Thank you for your stay'.
I'm not a picky person and I know that you don't get a highend hotel for a low price, but this hotel was by far one of the most ridiculous places I...
Read moreI love the location of this hotel - it is on the Nanjing road - pedestrian walking area. As a back-packer tourist who wished to experice Shanghai winter before Chinese New Year festival, I stayed there for just one night. The facility provided by the hotel is not so bad for a superior room that I stayed. The view from level 11 of my view is quite amazing - I saw the beautiful skyline of Shanghai and breath-taking bird-eye view of its amenities. However, the hotel does not provide breakfast service which I actually expected to have buffet breakfast in the morning. One more thing I noticed was that the frames of windows were rusted - that I never expected. One thing need to highlight in safety reason is that there are no grills or barriers intalled on the windows of my room. I think it would be the same for other rooms as well. Hence, if you are staying as family visits with playful children, take precaution on this matter for the safety of...
