We had dinner at Salon Tropical, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was lively however we did have one problem…we were served a portion of bread we did not order and then was charged 16,000 COP for it. We are tourists and it was our second night eating out in Bogota. We are not sure if this is a typical occurrence in Colombia or if this restaurant was just being sneaky. As you can see there is no mention of bread nor the price of it on the printed menu we were giving while dining however it is reflected in the bill. We told our server we thought it was complementary since we never ordered it and the response we got was no sorry but it meant to be eaten with the ceviche that we did order. This we found a bit annoying however with the conversion it worked out to $5 CAD. If you are not expecting to pay for bread and are on strict travel budget it might seem a bit much however for us it did taste great and paired well with both the ceviche and the remolachas. Now it could be we are just naive tourists that don’t know the dining culture of Bogota yet or it could just be the restaurant being sneaky, not sure yet. HOWEVER, the food was incredible and we couldn’t dine in our country for this price and quality. The tostada was incredibly fresh. The taste of the ceviche limeño was out of this world and the remolachas were delicious. Desserts a pistachio ganache that was very unique. I do recommend this restaurant just beware of the...

The space is luminous and nonchalant. Nothing too luxurious, and it makes you feel at home.

The service was very attentive. They clean the table after each dish, bring new cutterly whenever needed, and check on the guests regularly.

The food was creative, using traditional ingredients with refreshing twists. We had:

Three toasts: one of octopus, one of tuna, and one of shrimp. Each cooked in its own way, the flavor and texture of each seafood was enhanced. They all were great, but my favorite one was the tuna one.

Grilled lobster 🦞 with olives and capers. The lobster was big, but there were portions that missed flavor. The highlight of the dish was the bread accompanying it. Dipping it in the dish oil was glorious.

Wagyu cutlet 🍖: the most expensive dish, and the least impressive. 600 grams of roasted beef with a sweet and sour sauce. The meat was very tender, and the sauce was delicious, but the meat was too roasted on the outside, giving it a bitter flavor that the sauce could not hide. I'm not a fan of bitter stuff, so not really my thing. The highlight of the dish was, again, the assortments: baked sweet potato 🍠 and a lettuce 🥬 salad, both with great dressings.

Fish and clams 🐟: the flavor of the fish was fine. The accompanying french fries were a bit dull and hard. The sauce of the dish, with basil, was delicious though. The phureja bathed in...
