El Zaguán de San Antonio — Restaurant in Cali

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars, because the food was nice enough (I purposely ordered unusual things). The view was also decent. However, as a frequent solo female traveller I went down to three stars because of 2 important factors.

1. They don't take cards, only cash. In this current climate of risk, it's always safer to limit the cash you walk with. For the prices of this restaurant, there's no give, here.
2. Speaking of only taking, you need to know the prices and check your bill (hold onto a menu if you must). They tried to overcharge me, and when I pointed out that the menu price was lower than the bill, my kind waiter pointed it out to the cashier, who then pointed it out to his boss-- who then proceeded to check not one, but TWO menus (trying to prove me wrong). Luckily I'd already worked out my total, including the service and rounding up a bit extra-- because that's also exactly what the boss did, no permission asked (in Colombia restaurants are legally obliged to ask if you'd like to include the 10% gratuity). Clearly I didn't mind paying the extra, but the "flick of the hand" calculations that he pulled to end up still overcharging me did not thrill me in the least. I really liked my waiter, but the behaviour displayed by his boss ensures that I will never cross that door again. I prefer honest establishments that allow me to choose to pay them extra (and have equally good, if not...

Fuimos a este restaurante anoche con la familia, la única razón por la que no salimos de este lugar fue por lo agradable que era el servidor y lo duro que trató de arreglar la incompetencia de los restaurantes. Llegamos alrededor de las 20:30, a nuestra llegada el servicio fue lento y tuvimos que organizar nuestros propios asientos (no es culpa del servidor, ya que nunca se le notificó que estamos allí). Después de realizar el pedido, el servidor regresó y declaró que no tenían más del 80 por ciento de los artículos pedidos, afirmando que otro cliente había pedido la mayor parte del aperitivo en el menú. Le pregunté cómo es posible que el chef y el equipo de cocina no sepan cómo ordenar y prepararse para un viernes por la noche en un área de alto tráfico. Para colmo de males, el restaurante no aceptaba ninguna forma de pago con tarjeta de crédito.

Llamé la atención de la gerente del restaurante y ella guardó silencio sobre el tema, el dueño del restaurante que estaba parado a pocos metros de nosotros y escuchó la conversación con el gerente, básicamente evadió la conversación y desapareció.

We went to this restaurant last night with family, the only reason we didn't walk out of this place was because of how nice the server was and how hard he tried to fix the restaurants incompetence. We arrived at around 20:30, upon our arrival the service was slow and we had to arrange our own seating ( not the server's fault as he was never notified we we're there). After placing the order, the server returned and stated that they didn't have over 80 percent of the items ordered, stating that another client had ordered most of the appetizer in the menu. I asked how can the chef and kitchen crew not know how to order and prepare for a Friday night in a high traffic area. To add insult to injury, the restaurant didn't accept any form of credit cards payments.

I brought this to the attention of the restaurant manager and she was completely silent about the issue, the restaurant's owner who was standing a few feet away from us and heard the conversation with the manager, basically evaded the conversation and disappeared.

I recommend to look for another restaurant, as you will find other restaurants within a few hundred feet of this establishment who are better prepared.

Nous sommes allés dans ce restaurant hier soir avec la famille, la seule raison pour laquelle nous n'avons pas quitté cet endroit était à cause de la gentillesse du serveur et de la difficulté avec laquelle il a essayé de réparer l'incompétence des restaurants. Nous sommes arrivés vers 20h30, à notre arrivée le service était lent et nous avons dû organiser nos propres sièges (pas la faute du serveur car ils n'ont jamais été avertis que nous sommes là). Après avoir passé la commande, le serveur est revenu et a déclaré qu'il n'avait pas plus de 80% des articles commandés, déclarant qu'un autre client avait commandé la plupart des entrées sur le menu. Je lui ai demandé comment le chef et l'équipe de cuisine pourraient ne pas savoir comment commander et préparer un vendredi soir dans une zone très fréquentée. Pour ajouter l'insulte à l'injure, le restaurant n'a accepté aucune forme de paiement par carte de crédit.

J'ai porté à l'attention de la directrice du restaurant les difilcultades du service et elle était silencieuse sur le sujet, le propriétaire du restaurant qui se tenait à quelques mètres de nous et écoutait la conversation avec le directeur, a essentiellement éludé la conversation...
