El Barón — Restaurant in Cartagena

As a northeastern native (U.S.A) I’m rarely taken back by a cocktail bar, however after one visit to El Baron I can easily say that definitely not the case here. This bar is simply perfection. The cocktails will blow your mind while fully entertaining your pallet. Each cocktail I tried was extremely complex with ideal balance. The amount of thought and detail that goes into each drink is just unreal. The Traductor de Lenguas Primitivas and Geóloga Galáctica are both the most intricate cocktails I’ve ever tried and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The service is also great. El Barón is the best cocktail bar in Cartagena hands down. Incredible food (the dessert is next level!), cocktails, and a gorgeous setting with stunning decor on the interior. And the exterior seating is in a picture perfect historic Cartagena plaza complete with a 16th century church.

But, the best part of a visit to El Barón is their people! Everyone who works there is unbelievably friendly, helpful, and hardworking.

Angie, Manuel, Shirley, Jorge, Luis (and all the bartenders, servers, and other team members we interacted with) are fantastic! They provided amazing recommendations on drinks and food, they were happy to provide local tips about Cartagena, and really made our time at El Baron (and Cartagena!) super enjoyable and memorable!

My friends and I would rate this bar six stars if we could. We started eating at an outside table with an an excellent server, who gave us outstanding attention, and the food was delicious. We then took the party to the inside back bar both the front bar in the back bar are gorgeously decorated with lovely atmosphere, but in the back bar, the DJ was incredible and the bartender was incredible. We had so much fun dancing and enjoying the delicious craft cocktails the entire staff was top-tier and all of the offerings were decadent and just a beautiful atmosphere. The vibes were excellent.
