Tucked away in the tranquil bay adjacent to La Laguito, Intriga Tropical is an open-air restaurant and bar that offers a refreshing escape from the bustling beaches of Bocagrande and Castillogrande. With undercover seating right on the serene little lake, this venue provides a perfect blend of scenic beauty and culinary delight. Plus, it's pet-friendly, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed outing with your furry friends.
Upon arrival, I was immediately charmed by the ambiance. The unobstructed views of the lake and the gentle sounds of nature create a soothing atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The drinks here are particularly noteworthy; on this occasion, I indulged in a rum punch and a daiquiri. Both cocktails were exceptional—vibrantly tropical and perfectly balanced, avoiding the cloying sweetness that often mars such drinks. It’s clear that Intriga Tropical has perfected their recipes.
For the main course, I opted for the grilled Robalo whole fish, accompanied by a side salad and white rice, along with a larger salad. The fish was simply outstanding—perhaps one of the best I’ve tasted in Colombia. It was impeccably cooked, with a delicate flavor that was both fresh and satisfying. The side dishes complemented the fish beautifully, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Intriga Tropical stands out not only for its food and drinks but also for its service. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Despite the hot weather, the restaurant's fans provided a much-needed breeze, though this was the only minor critique I could muster.
Moderately priced with an array of enticing cocktails, starters, and entrées, Intriga Tropical offers excellent value for money. It’s a delightful surprise for anyone seeking a quieter, more relaxed setting away from the more crowded beach areas.
I highly recommend visiting Intriga Tropical with friends, and don’t forget to bring your pets along. It’s a place where you can unwind, enjoy exceptional food and drinks, and bask in the natural beauty of La Laguito. This hidden gem is definitely worth a...
Read moreCertainly not the one to give a bad review but this place warrants it. Although I only went there once this is my opinion. We had just arrived to our hotel and wanted some kind of meal before heading to bed. We arrive around 8:30pm. There is only 1 server, and 1 bartender and many tables of people. Prob 20 mins before he came over to our table. And then close to another 45 minute before the food came out. There were certainly people there but it wasn't crowded. Maybe 10 other tables. The sauces on both of our meals tasted like bad buffalo sauce and bad A1 sauce. Tasted like synthetic. And my cocktail drink was very difficult to muster due to the imbalance of taste. We knew the waiter was having a hard time keep up, so we didn't bother him with anything. But the only reason we went there was because it was the closest...
Read moreRestaurant cantelevered over Lagunita and a short walk from the very west edge of Playas Lagunitas. We were seated immediately, service was prompt (though a little serious for the location). We ordered 1. grilled curry fish and 2. grilled Milanese fish and some white wine. Restaurant overlooks the Lagunitas where we can saw tri-colored herons (garzas), yellow-headed caracaras, dozens of snowy egrets (garcetas), and some friendly Caribbean grackles. This is our last day in CTG, but we would come back. We speak Spanish, so I don’t know if staff speak English or not.
p.s., waiter pretended not to know the tip (propina) was already included. Another reviewer said the same, so check your bill - if there, no need to add anything. Seems like a thing at this restaurant. Removed one star...
