First the good things: great atmosphere, and service. Beautiful hotel and lounge area. Drinks were strong. The food was hit or miss. We were a party of 9c so we ordered a lot of things. It may have been the size of the party which complicated the timing of the food prep. For example the skin on the salmon looked like it was perfectly prepared, but by the time it got to us the skin had lost it’s crispness, and salmon was a tad over cooked. The flavor of the risotto was very good and the steak was excellent. The black ink pasta with shrimp was delicious. The grilled shrimp on the other hand was way over cooked and chewy, which is a shame because you can taste the nice char on it. The pork belly was really good (I would have liked it to be slow cooked more so that it’s more tender) but it had a super crispy skin as it should. The octopus looked beautiful, but it was drowned by all the different sauces that detracted from the flavor of the octopus itself. The sea bass with Gruyère was a gamble, it wasn’t bad, but we didn’t expect much from it. I would give the food 3 stars because they can be so much better with small attention to detail and editing some of their dishes. Expect to pay a minimum of $50 a person, so at least half of what you’d pay in the U.S., so a huge bargain especially how nice the service and the atmosphere was. Definitely go early and get a couple of...

Was looking forward to going. It’s in one of the best small luxury hotels in the walled city of Cartagena. Place is small. Decor is stuffy. Service was very pleasant at first then fizzled out. I ordered black fettuccini with lobster . Pasta was tough and it came with overly cooked shrimp, not lobster. Not sure if the chef is famous, but the meal was mediocre at best. Actually, it was bad. What ticked me off is that when the Concierge of my hotel called to book me a table she asked what the dress code was. She was told long pants for men. So in this humid climate I wore long pants only to see the men in a large party sitting next to me wearing not only shorts but sandals. I didn’t say anything but on my way out I approached the Concierge of the hotel on duty and mentioned the incident . She got snippy. It’s a shame because in this town there are incredible restaurants and I wasted a night on this one. Do your...

Food is pretty good, certainly you will get delighted with the desserts! yet some Ingredients treatment were diminished in favour of show or appearance, eggplant salad had some uneven texture on eggplants not evenly cooked sometimes tastes great sometimes darn..., burrata had pretty bitter orange slices, they could have made another cut without the white pulp yet the right orange was not chosen anyway, octopus starter was lost between the multiple flavors, lacked some seasoning so was.not a real protagonist yet the dish was beautiful plated but now I can't even remember what it tasted like it was octopus? the photos display a more.vivid place, yet ambient is pretty dark and conservative, prices were high; may worth a taste but they need to...

Restaurante El Gobernador Local, cartagenan style food with a modern twist. Being in a great ambience this restaurant offers a memorable experience combined with great food. Starter breads: they give you a small variety of home made breads, very tasty! Starters: We tried then ceviche cartagenero, Grilled Octopus and Lobster and fresh paws au gratin. They first was ok not great, the Octopus just ok while the lobster was a great surprise. Main dishes: Sea bass with gruyere crust, was good specially the gruyere crust. Meat cubes posta Cartagenera style, the meat was delicious soft tasty worth repeating. It comes with sweep plantain which are good and the coconut rice was memorable! One of the restaurants you should try in Cartagena.
