Absolutely the right choice!!! Will return each time I'm in Cartagena. Waiter Humberto was exceptionally professional, friendly, and attentive (made the rooftop feel like a fine dining experience). That said, the rooftop, though smallish, is definitely the place to be....open air, view, a bit warm/humid (indoor AC is like a freezer), and definitely more romantic than indoor. Very nicely decorated and has a great little bar too. The food was amazing...while all were excellent and some of the best we've had anywhere in the world (fact), some dishes were no less than perfect. What a truly special kitchen. If dining as a couple, the Summer Night Dinner for Two is an easy and exceptional choice...the menu is quite expansive, and this special helps narrow down some choices. Includes a cocktail for each, choice of bottle of wine from a selection of three types, a cold appetizer (choose from three), hot appetizer (choose from three), main course (choose from three), and dessert (choose from three)...COP 399,000 (< $100)! The staff went above and beyond recognizing and making our anniversary special...dressed up the dessert (fireworks too!) and announced to the whole rooftop, followed by cheers and applause (...might add, real and definitely not forced like we all are often accustomed to at home). Best decision we made this week in Cartagena!

I didn't really had a good experience in this place, highly overpriced, the food isn't really good and the service highlights as bad. First of all: the food. Nothing special, i had corn with shrimps and it was excellent, a solid 4.5 in flavor, a little bit smaller than i expected for the price, but it tasted incredible. Tacos where not good, flavorless and small, i tried the ribs one. Mexican pizza was terrible, flavorless, without cheese, nothing exciting or good about it but the jalapeno, which was so spicy that it took away the rest of flavor in that dish, i didn't even finish it. Drinks were surprisingly bad, though they seemed very attractive to the eye (i had a coconut michelada and a buena Vida michelada) they lacked flavor and had a Ton of ice, which also takes the flavor away. I also had the most expensive bottle water in all Cartagena. Time of service was acceptable, between 40 min and an hour of waiting, which seems normal in Cartagena. Service was ... Quite undesirable, the lady on the door was very kind, she told us that we could eat at the terrace together, and that her partners upstairs where going to be able to move chairs and tables in order for us to be together. Long story short the people upstairs didn't give a damn about it, they told us they could place us together so it was gonna be eating separate or don't eat there. The waiter that service me was good and respectful but the waiter who attended my friends on the other table was a bit rude. At the end we asked for the receipt and took them around 25 minutes to get it, so i went to the counter and pay there. The place has a great view and has the potential to improve food and drinks. Prices are around 10 - 18 USD (around 55.000 COP) for the food, and the drinks are around 6 USD

Buena Vida Marisquería & Rooftop is a vibrant & chic restaurant & bar in the walled city. We came at night and enjoyed some delicious food and unique libations that Buena Vida offers. Inspired by the Caribbean Sea, Buena Vida Marisquería & Rooftop is known for its seafood, so of course I ordered the ceviche and it was wonderful. My favorite aspect of Buena Vida Marisquería & Rooftop is the fun drinks we ordered. One was a sharable punchbowl that our server made in front of us with flames and sparklers coming out of the box - talk about presentation. The other was a delicious fruity cocktail that came in a huge conch shell as the cup. I absolutely love it - the creativity and uniqueness definitely made Buena Vida Marisquería & Rooftop memorable for me. Buena Vida passes the vibe check with the great upbeat music they play, they offer seating outdoors at the rooftop & also indoors on the first floor, and I love how colorful the restaurant is. The view of the historic architecture is gorgeous at night. I would love to come back and visit Buena Vida Marisquería & Rooftop during the day to see the beauty of the establishment and city views in the daylight.

Must visit in Cartagena!! It’s highly rated across most of the platforms and they didn’t disappoint our party of 3, which includes a 3-year old. The service was amazing - especially Gisel, who was ready to help whenever needed - but let’s talk about the food, which is why most of you are reading this review! Must get: grilled octopus/pulpo - absolutely delicious and rivals many of the European trips We loved the Caribbean shrimp rice, as we got to try the coconut rice and the sauce was very tasty! (They warned that it was spicy, but we didn’t think it had much kick at all, and we typically don’t search out heat!) The big fun surprise was the live violinist who came down to play happy birthday to my wife. The whole staff came to give us this amazing dessert: OBLEAS COCO-AREQUIPE, which is wafers / caramel / ricotta chantilly / mango jam. We would have NEVER ordered this so it was extra special and we ended up licking the plate clean! Topped off with some mimosas, we had an amazing time and already booked another meal before we leave town, thanks to Miguel! Enjoy!

We arrived at this restaurant around 8:45 am or 9 am. We were asked if we have reservations. We did not. We were seated immediately and ordered as the restaurant was empty. The food was a five out of five. It was really good. We had the tamarin mimosa, the orange juice, The Nutella French toast, a side of scrambled eggs, and one of their platters that included the cured salmon, guacamole, and eggs with salmon. Everything was a five out of five. I had breakfast with my brother and he also agreed. It should be a 5/5. Overall, highly recommend. I've also recommend getting here early as it is a smaller space. They had a rooftop, but we didn't get the opportunity to see it. The bar, the resturant, the staff and everything else presented really beautifully. Special Shout out to Alejandra who spoke English. We do not expect anyone to speak English as we are in Colombia 🇨🇴. We should know Spanish. With that said I appreciate her grace and ability to speak English making it easier to communicate. Thank you Alejandra! Great job. 👏🏽

I’ll start by saying the one star is for the manager who tried to reconcile mine and my family’s poor experience here - my husband, two small children and I attempted to have lunch here a few days ago. We were brought into the restaurant with our double stroller. We asked the staff three different times if we could park our stroller in different sections of the restaurant. The staff were not helpful at all, extremely passive aggressive with us, and only kept saying “no” to our suggestions without advising how we can seat ourselves and our two children. This experience made my family and I feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. This was incredibly unfortunate as I was very excited to try their food. My hope is this is a lesson learned for this restaurant to treat families with more respect and caution for other families before they visit here. I must say the manager did try to apologize on behalf of the staff who were disrespectful and unaccommodating to us. However, we declined the invitation to come back into the restaurant.
