El Rancherito in Palmas is a culinary haven for anyone seeking the true flavors of Colombia right in the heart of Medellin. Stepping into this restaurant is like stepping into a Colombian home kitchen, where warmth and hospitality meet mouthwatering dishes.
The menu at Rancherito Las Palmas is a celebration of Colombian cuisine, offering a wide selection of traditional dishes that capture the essence of the country's culinary heritage. From hearty Bandeja Paisa to comforting Ajiaco soup, every dish is prepared with care and attention to detail.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of sampling several dishes, including the Bandeja Paisa and the Arepas. The Bandeja Paisa was a feast for the senses, with tender grilled steak, savory chorizo, crispy chicharrón, and all the classic accompaniments served in generous portions. The Arepas were a perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft interior, filled with melting cheese that oozed with each bite.

I had a terrible experience at El Rancherito – Las Palmas. On March 29, 2025, at 8:45 p.m., I was robbed inside their parking lot, despite the fact that they claim to have security. According to security footage, a man wandered around the vehicles for a long time, went up to the upper area of the restaurant, and waited for us to enter before breaking our car window and stealing several valuable belongings.
The worst part is that, according to the recordings, the car alarm went off, yet the security guard did nothing. Then, mysteriously, he disappeared and was replaced by another guard who claimed he had "just arrived." What kind of security is this? How is it possible that thefts occur so blatantly in a supposedly monitored parking lot?
The restaurant’s management said they would follow up with the police, but they took no responsibility and offered no help to cover the damages. A so-called administrator showed up but left without offering any assistance, claiming that her shift was over. When we pointed out that the restaurant should take responsibility for its negligence, the security guard who had "just arrived" reacted angrily.
This is outrageous! If you value your safety and belongings, DO NOT visit this place. One expects to enjoy a meal peacefully because El Rancherito offers parking with "security," but in reality, there seems to be none.
El Rancherito must take responsibility and address its security negligence.

Read moreFood is good and the place is clean. I've never been a fan of Bandeja Paisa but how can I visit Medellin and not try it? Well, this was the least fatty, least greasy bandeja paisa I have ever seen. It was enjoyable. The sausage had nice spices and was my favorite part of the dish. We also shared a fried seafood mixed plate. It was very good, especially the shrimp, calamari, and the white fish (forgot what it was but it seemed as buttery as sea bass). But the fried salmon was a new one for me... it was okay. The dish needed some kind of dipping sauce but ingredients were excellent and it wasn't greasy in any way. Guanabana and raspberry juices were very good. Dessert was nothing special, especially the natas which was tiny...
