Tony Roma's Restaurant Bar — Restaurant in Medellín

Get the ribs. That was the only item out of the six or seven dishes we ordered that didn’t fall short. We were tied to an incidental credit that we had to use so we decided to give the hotel revolving restaurant a shot. The ambiance is what you would expect for a 5-star hotel, and our waitress was kind, professional and helpful. But the food on the other hand left much to be desired. We tried the pescado teriyaki - overcooked. We tried the baby beef - lacking flavor. We normally ask for rare, but the rare didn’t have much flavor to it, though the cut was tender. The ceviche was not like ceviche that we expected - it was essentially cooked shrimp in ketchup with plantain chips that were not crispy. The nachos were good, but nothing to run home about, and the salad was too drenched in dressing to have much of a texture. Our dessert was the flan, the chocolate flan and that was a pleasant surprise after the rest...

In one word: disappointing.

If you’re hoping for the signature, fall-off-the-bone ribs that made Tony Roma’s famous in the U.S., you may be let down. On a Saturday night, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet, and after trying the ribs, I understood why. For those of us who grew up with the original Tony Roma’s, the difference is noticeable.

That said, the service was excellent. Our waiter, Kevin, couldn’t have been more attentive and professional, and that was the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, great service couldn’t fully make up for the food.

I live within walking distance, and while this visit didn’t meet my expectations, I hope the kitchen finds its rhythm—I’d love to give it another try...

The place looks like you’re stuck in the late 90’s. We went expecting a whole great experience and couldn’t be more disappointed. The dishes are really badly designed starting from the plastic folders that holds the menu. I ordered the “famous” ribs and i was mouth watering wile waiting for them, until I’ve got this microwave ribs dry as the Sahara desert not even coated with barbecue sauce. The service wasn’t exceptionally great, as the waiters were watching the colombian futbol game on their phone while i was waiting around 10 min to get the bill, which for the mentioned experience it wasn’t cheap at all . Definitely...
