My friend recommended this place to me, and what an experience!
Just off Calle 8 next to all of the clubs and party scene of the neighborhood, WOKHOUSE is the perfect way to begin your night.
Head-bobbing loud dance music, smooth cocktails, and incredible food with great presentation. A millennial foody’s dream.
If you are looking for modern Asian fusion before a night out, this is the place to be. I ordered a strawberry mojito and a traditional mojito. Both were perfectly balanced. The tuna sushi tacos were a bit awkward to eat, which made the dish a bit more fun. A playful balance of crunchy, soft, savory, and sweet. The Chicken gyoza are based on a heavy saucing of an “Asian mayo” which were delicious and very rich. Last, and definitely not least, the strawberry millefouille was perfectly executed. Light, flaky, and crispy pastry dough layered with clouds of nougat, strawberries, and crême pat. On top of all of that, the server drizzles dulce de leche over the whole thing. Served on an asymmetric plate brings a second level of elegance to the dessert.
My next visit to Medellín, I will be taking people here. What a wonderful and lively...
Read moreThe food was tasteless, inauthentic, and not very satisfying. The ramen lacked the flavor of ramen, and the green curry didn’t contain much curry. Moreover, the waitress was condescending, and kept trying to pressure us to buy more expensive foods and drinks, even lying, saying that a dish we asked for wasn’t available, and that we should buy one at twice that price. When we refused, she backtracked and tried to get us to buy the original dish we asked for (which suddenly became available again, mysteriously.)
As one of the only Asian customers reviewing this restaurant, I’m disappointed to say that it’s just not a very good choice for Asian food in Medellin.
Even the plants in the restaurant are plastic and fake — how unnecessarily bland and cheaply misleading, in a city full of lush tropical plants that grow easily on...
Read moreWokhouse is attempting to be an asian restuarant serving a variety of dishes from sushi, currys to woks. Unfortunately it fails to provide an authentic experience as documented by many previous reviewers. The food we tried was way too salty, even though we specificially asked for no salt. I ordered a red curry and the salt completely took away the enjoyment of eating it. The curry was spicy but not picante which was a little disapplointing. Red curry should be served with fluffy jasmin rice, instead I got some flavorless dry rice.
They have many staff members but most just stand around doing nothing, so you have to wave to them to get their attention. The staff made a mistake with the bill, but were happy to resolve it.
Given the 10 other excellent restaurants on the same street, Wokhouse needs to improve...
