Restaurante Garden Bistro — Restaurant in Carmen

We had a very poor experience here. I booked a table for dinner based on the star rating and the menu described on line. The service was good. Darwin greeted us enthusiastically and we ordered a bottle of French Pinot Noir. That was the only good sort of the dinner. It rapidly went downhill from there. We both ended up ordering the same man in course, a local steak dish with mushrooms (as they were out of all the other meat main course options on the menu). It was awful. It looked unappetizing and inedible. We sent them back and ended up paying for our wine and the two appetizers, a salad and beef carpaccio which were very average and both had a sweet crackerjack ingredient added which did not work well...

I so badly wanted Ceviche and had already left the downtown area where it was available.

My friends and I decided to try Garden Bistro and the ceviche left much to be desired. I would suggest saving your money and getting some authentic, local ceviche.

We did get an order of their fries and that was delicious!!! So much so that we actually went back for them on my friends birthday lol.

The staff was also kind enough to give us a complimentary cheesecake and that was also...

My friends and I were looking for somewhere to eat really quickly and ended up finding this restaurant. We didn’t want to spend too much money so we decided to get fries and margaritas. Let me tell you, the fries were the BEST thing I had in all of San Jose lol. We had i go twice just for the fries alone and I’m still thinking about them as I’m in Puerto Viejo.

They were seasoned perfectly, nicely cut wedge fries with the best sauce to dip it...
