We made two trips to the Beer House to visit with Daniel in our short 3-day trip to Jaco. What a great place to try various local Costa Rica beers and have great conversation. Daniel the owner was great to talk too and provided some tips on other places to stop at when it came to our next destination. By the way the German Bakery in Arenal was amazing, thanks for the tip. Anyways not only did we pick up a conversation with the owner but met other travelers who were great to talk too. If I had to describe this place it’s a cross between a speakeasy and Cheers TV show. I say speakeasy as your only going to find it by a small sign and you’ll need to walk down a short fenced in path to get there. Don’t let the girls at the entrance offering you a massage deter you from this place, politely say no and keep walking, LOL. Then I say Cheers as your going to strike up conversations and find yourself enjoying yourself for hours, that you’ll forget your suppose to be exploring Jaco. Please make this a stop for yourself when you visit Jaco as I’m certain you’ll...
Read moreBeing from San Diego, CA, I am a craft beer lover and this place did not disappoint! We cruised by The Beer House our first night in Jaco and enjoyed it so much we cruised by the next three nights as well. There are 10 taps featuring 4-5 breweries from around Costa Rica as well as a fridge of bottled/canned imports from Canada and Europe. They also offer cocktails. I really enjoyed a few beers that were on tap from Lake Arenal Brewery (LAB) so I stopped by the actual facility en route to La Fortuna later on in my trip. Happy hour from 5-7 each day. Danny, the owner, is a rad dude from Canada that was awesome to chat with. He shared some great insight about Jaco as well as shared some hilarious stories. Lots of ex-pats cruised by that obviously frequent the place as they all had great rapports with Danny. On Friday nights, there is a DJ playing a variety of classic jams (does not lay any club music) as well as a late night happy hour. There is also a delicious pizza place about 50 feet away that will deliver food for you to...
Read moreDaniel the bartender/owner is so nice and knowledgeable. He was very welcoming and helpful as soon as we walked in, explaining all the local craft beer options and finding ones that fit our palates. There’s a great selection of local craft beer as well as bottles for more of the classics (Corona, Stella, Heineken, etc.) and wine and a few cocktails as well. Pizza shop is in the front, you just have to walk through the pizza restaurant to the back and you’ll see a door on the left for the beer house. There is also happy hour 5-7 everyday which is minus 500 colones (about $1) off beer. Definitely a must if you enjoy craft beer and a home away from home for...
