Restaurante Harmony Food — Restaurant in La Fortuna

Hard to convey the experience we had at Restaurant Harmony Foods. We arrived for an early dinner (first customers of the evening). The restaurant is just outside of La Fortuna in a residential area. While the location is unassuming, I've always value hidden jewels and have never seen anywhere with only 5-star reviews (with over 750 reviews) … and the photos looked better than everything we had experienced at one of the higher end resorts (and our food at the resort had been great).

Every ingredient was perfection. I had the ribeye, my wife the chicken and my daughter the salmon and we ordered different sides to try everything. All our food and drinks were excellent – nothing was under a rating of “excellent/perfection”. The place is run by a husband and wife (Guillermo and Gabriela) with their son. I’ve worked all over the world and had the fortunate opportunity to eat in Michelin star restaurants and out of the way gems. It’s always been the small/special places that left lasting memories.

As we arrived at Harmony, my wife and daughter questioned my selection because of the unassuming location. Their hesitation was short lived.

The personal attention and special charm was exceptional… but it was the food that goes beyond words (and the reason they have over 750 five-star reviews which I have never seen). I will say if it’s busy and you must wait; there is no bar or seating area so you will get to hang out with a couple of famous local dogs in the street (Kita and Molly). At the same time, the fact that no one has given a bad review or complained tells you how exceptional their food and commitment to excellence is. Every ingredient in everything we had was exceptional. I could go on … but this review along with all the other 5-star reviews tells their story. Guillermo and his family could take their concept anywhere in the world from their small street corner… but then I (along with all the other people who were fortunate enough to experience their special place) would not be spending the time to share these reviews. If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to dine there and are above judging a location, you will be rewarded with an experience like no other. Best restaurant I have eaten at in Costa Rica! I took my two teenage daughters and wife based on google reviews. The reviews are spot on! The restaurant is located in a local neighborhood - very authentic. The location frightened my youngest daughter a little who is visiting Costa Rica for the first time. We convinced her to join us, and oh, am I glad she did! The food was spectacular! The chef and his wife are the kindest people who deeply care about the experience people have with eating their food. Since my daughter was fearful, I asked if I could just take food out. The chef spoke with me and kindly requested that we ear there. I truly believe he gets his greatest satisfaction by watching clients eat the food he prepares and he also wants to present the food in a way to aesthetically add to the eating experience.

This kind couple started the restaurant on their own just 7 months ago. I loved the opportunity to get to know them as part of the eating experience. The restaurant is thoughtfully decorated, very clean, quaint and feels like you are entering someone's home. The food is so masterfully prepared with savory seasoning and fresh produce. They focus on using high level ingredients and all organic foods.

I had a steak with grilled vegetables. My wife had chicken and my older daugher had a chicken bowl. We couldn't stop oohing and aahing as we ate. The whole experience was one of our favorite. I love connecting with people where I travel and eating here was a perfect opportunity to do that along with eat the tastiest meal I have enjoyed in a long time. I would highly recommend! My youngest daughter was skeptical but after watching our excitement, she ordered a meal as well and LOVED it! I am confident you will be grateful you went if you choose...

I went to this restaurant thanks to a new friend I met when I was in La Fortuna. this is the best restaurant I ate during my trip in Costa Rica and in my 4 days stop in la Fortuna. The chef Guillermo "Memo" cook with passion and heart and you can taste it in the food served there. I took a steak with fried casava and steamed vegetables, there is a grilled pineapple and plantain that comes with the dish(so good) I added on top of that some rice but the plate was enough by itself. Everything was fresh and tasty and the meat cooked medium well as asked. I also order a sangria to drink and a dessert : rice pudding from his mom's recipe. It's hard to find a very good rice pudding but this one was the best I have eaten in a while. There is some mixed berry at the bottom and a chocolate chip to add some crunch. There also a very good brownie with ice cream there I recommend.my friend took the special burger,it was huge and tasty. Thank you to Check Guillermo and his wife for the hospitality.
