Blackout Hostel — Hotel in La Fortuna

We had an absolutely amazing time at Blackout Hostel. Most notably, the location and the staff/people. Just a couple minutes walk to the city center with nice restaurants, bakeries, and shops. Also about 10-15 minutes walk to this spectacular waterfall where everyone goes to jump off the rocks and swing from the Tarzan rope.

Tony, the owner, was so kind and welcoming. We spent every night chatting in the main room with the other guests and even went out all together to the club next door.

If you're looking for a fun time focused on experiences, this is the place to be. For the price, we didn't mind at all not having hot water or the little extras like soap and towels. Bring your own and...

I had a great stay and met cool people. Brilliant hike w Toni, even tho little luck with the sun and torrential rain on the return haha. There is a night hike I missed but the sky clear and the moon out, Arenal looks magic. Great time at the hot springs with candles at night and truth or lie. Charlie’s on a Saturday (next door) and the food truck, gold stars. I had no plans but was lucky. Close to a nice supermarket and a 5 minute walk from the bus station or close. Toni received me and only after 5 minutes there, he gave me a bowl of pinto de gallo. I was really well served there. It totally changed my experience in La fortuna (positively). Toni is also a great guide. If I could i would give 6 stars out of 5. I made nice friends there. It is small but it makes it easier to make friends i believe.
