We got the margarita pizza and it was ok- we are from New York and are used to very good crust so the pizza was pretty on par with the regular pizza we have and tasted pretty fresh. The service was very good however doesn’t make up for the pasta we had. I know I am spoiled with very good handmade pasta but the sauce was very peculiar for the cream salmon pasta and I was taken aback by that flavor. I’m sure the other things on the menu like the gnocchi is better and unfortunately we didn’t order whatever people said they ordered on the reviews. This pasta was so bad and one of the more expensive items on the menu and I guess I had high expectations because the reviews were so good but the pasta was not fresh and the sauce was not authentic Italian. Same with the seafood spaghetti with pomodoro sauce. The seafood was also not fresh and there were some meat missing from the shells for the mussels and clams. I was fine with that but the pasta was not fresh tasting but for the reviews to say it’s the best pasta outside of Italy is a huge stretch… I have so much good pasta on a normal that this was very subpar for me. Let me say it again, the comment that this is the best Italian food outside of Italy is wrong. This restaurant makes me rather eat at a local soda because I rather eat authentic Costa Rican...
Read moreNot bad but certainly over priced. The cheese plate was tiny (literally translucent pieces of cheese) and did not have all the cheeses that were listed on the menu. When we asked about this, the response was that they did not have all the cheeses and they could decide what they presented. We were disappointed by the amount of cheese for the price (9300 c), especially because they served us by accident the mixed cheese/charcuterie plate (which was actually cheaper) and when we indicated that we had ordered only cheese they just removed the charcuterie and did not give us additional cheese.
The bread was stale and the pasta carbonara was dry. The ravioli was tasty though. We ordered grilled vegetables as a side dish, this led to confusion and in the end we were served a plate of boiled (not grilled) carrots, baby corn and zucchini.
Service was sweet but incredibly clumsy.
Unfortunately we do not share the rave reviews of this place. It is probably fine for pizza (these were made fresh and looked good) but for anything beyond that it is disappointing...
Read moreOwner waited on us. Now I realize we are in Costa Rica and service takes much longer here, but we sat for 10 minutes before she came to the table. She only speaks Italian so it was hard to understand her. What we understood was that her husband makes the pasta fresh every morning and that she’s been open for about 30 days and the wine is delicious. But what wound up happening was the lasagna that we ordered was never made. We sat there for 30 minutes with no food, no drinks only for them to come to the table and tell us that the lasagna was not made that morning. They apologize but no lasagna. Clear broth minestrone was $16 and the lasagna was $14. Very strange. We ordered focaccia with the soup, but the focaccia is done in the pizza oven so when we were done with the soup, the focaccia finally arrived. There was a young Costa Rican man during live music, which was actually very nice, but it was way too loud. Couldn’t have a conversation. We sat on the patio and while we were there, both owners came out and had a cigarette right next to our table....
