Costa Rica Tours adventure and Nature — Local services in La Fortuna

I really wanted to see sloths during our time in La Fortuna, but most of the tours were a few hours out and the one in town had sloths in captivity. Luckily, we found Raphael in town and booked this tour. He assured us the sloths were in the wild and that we would see at least one. He was so right. We saw two within the first 5 minutes of the trail.

Raphael is very knowledgeable about not only the rainforest and sloths, but about some of the interdependencies of the flora and fauna. The reserve was only brought back to life from a cattle farm less than 25 years ago, so to create a sustainable ecosystem that encourages the local wildlife to come back and live is pretty astonishing.

Oh and we saw 6 sloths, some bats, a dart frog and a kingfisher bird before the rain dumped so hard that we could hardly look up into the trees.

Raphael would set up his telescope to not only give us a better view but then take our phone to take a pic of the view in the telescope for professional quality photos and video we would only get with a DSLR camera.

Nuestro guía fue Rafael, nos ayudó a organizar todo minuciosamente desde el principio de nuestra decisión de viajar a Costa Rica. Hemos recorrido casi todo el país, nos proporcionó el vehículo de alquiler para nuestra instancia desde el aeropuerto de San José y recogida en el mismo aeropuerto. Con esto quiero decir que tuvimos el vehículo en todo momento. Las excursiones que él nos propuso nos gustaron mucho y aunque en alguna ocasión nos parecieron más caras que otros lugares, rápidamente comprendimos cuál era el motivo. Y quiero decirles que son todos ellos de mucha más calidad, guías profesionales únicamente para nosotros y un trato exquisito.Tanto en tortuguero con Lilroy, como en Gandoca con Gilberto, en Monteverde Marvin, en Tárcoles Wilky y por último en Manuel Antonio Mile. Todos ellos recomendados por Rafael que nos puso en contacto con ellos, para que nos acompañasen y fueran nuestros, ojos, oídos y como no, todo lo que podíamos querer saber, ahí estaban para informarnos sin límites. Y Rafael le conocimos en San José en el aeropuerto y luego que nos acompañó en La Fortuna y él fue todo el tiempo con nosotros lo pasamos genial y nos sentimos muy bien acompañados y nos vino a despedir al aeropuerto de San José para recoger el vehículo.
