This is a nice setting. The food was good.
But - don’t plan to come here for dinner alone and receive good service. I turned up at the same time as another couple who were told there were no tables (several tables were vacant, but I presumed reserved). They were then offered a small table to the side with one chair. They declined and left.
I requested a table for one. And was informed there were no tables available for one person. So I suggested I sit at the table declined by the couple and was informed that was not possible. I asked if that was because there was only one of me and was informed that one of the couple worked there, but also kind of yes because there was only one of me. I said I was a bit surprised by that and suddenly she remembered that there was indoor seating and I could sit there - absolutely fine I said.
I then sat inside waiting to be served whilst staff darted in and out of the kitchen avoiding any kind of contact with anyone inside - one other person on their own, and a couple with a kid. After 20+ minutes I went back outside to ask if anyone was likely to serve the indoor area at which point I noted the same table I was not allowed to sit at remained vacant (as were the other tables). So I informed the girl on the door I’d sit there to ensure getting service. Service was then prompt and polite.
The vacant tables were subsequently filled by people without reservations, but that were all couples. I know because I was within hearing distance of every person coming through the gate.
This place has decent food, and the location is nice - but basically they discriminate against you if you turn up alone. Book a table for two, say the other is meeting you there, and once seated inform them the other has cancelled - less hassle. That’s my advice - or take your business elsewhere - I possibly...
Read moreMy family and I visited Yacht Club Orsan Restaurant hoping for a pleasant dinner by the water, but the experience was deeply disappointing, especially for those of us with dietary restrictions. Two members of our party have celiac disease, so gluten-free options are critical. The waiter seemed unsure about the menu and vaguely assured us that “most dishes” could be made gluten-free, which gave us little confidence. When we asked for specifics, the response was dismissive, and we were limited to just a couple of options. The kids’ menu was extremely limited, offering only two choices at €12 each. We ordered the grilled chicken for the kids, but it arrived so overcooked and dry that they couldn’t eat it. Our adult dishes were decent in flavor, but the service was lackluster. The waiter barely checked on us, and we had to flag them down repeatedly for drinks or assistance. It felt like they prioritized tables ordering pricier items, as our gluten-free restrictions limited our choices. The worst part came later that night when both my wife and daughter, who are celiac, became severely ill with vomiting. It’s clear the kitchen did not take proper precautions to avoid cross-contamination, despite our clear communication about the seriousness of their condition. This isn’t just about a bad meal—it’s about negligence toward a serious health issue. The meal was expensive, the service was indifferent, and the lack of care for dietary needs ruined what was supposed to be a special evening. I strongly advise anyone with food allergies or celiac disease to avoid this restaurant. It’s not...
Read moreWe reserved a table at Yacht Club Orsan as it had great reviews and looked like a nice restaurant. However we weren’t impressed at all by the service we received as well as the food.
Although we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who joked with us as we entered, our experience went downhill when we sat down. Firstly were told that they only had “local beers” even though the beers we had chosen were on the menu as “local beers”. Then, even though the menu appears to be very simple in English, apparently things aren’t translated correctly and aren’t what they are listed as. This wasn’t communicated at all until we were ready to make our order - with dishes even being in the wrong categories such as main courses being in the starter section. We were able to order two “starters” and only one “main” before our waiter abruptly interrupted and said that it will be enough and walked off. We received our now one starter which was a cheese selection and proceeded to wait for our main course for nearly an hour. At this point we had finished our drinks and starter and we’re left sitting while others around us were coming and going. When the mains eventually came, my girlfriends squid was flavourless and rubbery as well as cold. My mussels simply came in a big bowl with no bread or side to eat with. We did order more drinks at some point but they never arrived.
We were both really disappointed in our experience with Yacht Club Orsan and felt we were overlooked due to us being a young couple who would perhaps not spend as much money as their...
