We stayed at the Lapad from 28th April to 1st May 2025. We had a very enjoyable time at the hotel. All the staff at the Lapad hotel were so welcoming and friendly. Right from the reception, management, to the restaurant staff and cleaners. They were all very helpful, professional and always willing to help. Jeljko on reception is a lovely warm gentleman. Jasna was also polite and professional. All the reception staff were professional and helpful. Check in/checkout was quick and easy.
We found the hotel guests were older or couples. We didn't see families with young children, maybe because we visited outside of school holidays.
Rooms: We stayed in Room 315 so I can only give my opinion on that room. The room was a lovely size, very clean, comfortable and bright. Tea and coffee making facilities with tea bags, coffee, milk powder and 2 small pots of cream in the mini fridge.
There is one complementary bottle of water in the room on your arrival. You can buy further bottles from hotel or local shops approx 7 to 8 mins walk from hotel.
The bathroom was very clean and equipped with shampoo, shower gel and hand-wash. No Bidet/hand held Bidet shower and no hair dryer. None of these are complaints just observations (although a Bidet would be good).
The bed was very comfortable with clean bedding and the pillows were perfect for us, nice and comfortably soft but not too soft (we always find hotel pillows too firm and way too high).
The room itself is very spacious. The only thing we did find was the curtain was too small and let in the early morning light, however there is a roller blind behind the curtain, that we didn't see until our last night! Once we pulled that down, no issues whatsoever.
Breakfast: Despite our halal dietary requirements, there was an abundance of choices, from three different kinds of eggs, to tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, pancakes, croissants, breads, salads, cheeses, fruits, cereals, teas, coffees, yoghurt, smoothies and more.
Restaurant staff very efficient Midhat, Emina very friendly, in fact all the restaurant staff deserve praises.
Evening dinner: We opted to eat in the hotel every evening for three reasons: First one being, finding a restaurant outside to suit our halal dietary requirements wasn't easy, secondly we found eating out in dubrovnik fairly expensive and thirdly the restaurant food suited our dietary requirements. Note, the hotel evening dinner doesn't need to be booked in advance. You can just turn up on the evening and they will charge dinner to your room (€28/£24pp)
The evening dinner was, in my opinion, really nice. There were always two soup flavours (one vegetarian) choices of fish (at least two types), vegetables, meat, salads, bread rolls, pasta, rice and desserts. The food was really well made.
The swimming pool is a lovely size, although it was quite cold as it is unheated. There are sunloungers around the pool if you just want to relax.
At the front of the hotel, there are tables and chairs to order drinks/coffee and enjoy the view of the marina in front of the hotel.
If you leave the hotel and turn right, it is approx 7 minutes walk to the bus stop to catch the number 4 bus to the old town, which took approx 15 mins. There are also a few restaurants along this road, also a mini grocery store and a Tommy supermarket approx 12 minutes from hotel.
If you turn left out of the hotel there are a couple of restaurants less than 5 minutes away and Setaliste kralja zvonimira (Promenade of King Zvonimira) is approx 15 minute walk from hotel, where you will find lots of bars/coffee shops and a beach.
Overall a very pleasant stay and we would definitely return here. After spending the day in the hustle and bustle of the old town, this is a lovely hotel to come back to and relax.
Tips: Dubrovnik leaflets/maps available at airport when leaving customs Buy dubrovnik pass: Definitely worth it. The pass covers entrance to the city walls, museums and...
Read moreBeautiful hotel with immaculately clean rooms. Originally built in 1914 this hotel looks classical from the outside but the reception area is filled with granite flooring and staircases leading up to the accomodation. As this is an older hotel which has had various extensions over the years if you stay in a new room (ie with balcony) you can expect to take two lifts to get there. The rooms here are very modern, beautiful tiles bathrooms and shower over bath and comfortable beds. Air conditioning and fridge also in the room. The balcony is on the smaller side so not really comfortable for two to sit outside at a time .
We opted for half board and there was a mix up due to our tour operator informing the hotel of the wrong board basis. Resolving this was frustrating as I found the staff to be a little rude and insensitive when trying to resolve this issue with me. It could just be a difference in cultures however. On the whole the staff were great, helpful, friendly and the rooms serviced daily providing fresh towels and beds made up.
The hotel buffet offers a wide selection though an overly picky eater may struggle somewhat. There was a different menu each day but always a staple selection of various meats, breads, salad, potatoes, rice etc. Great vegetarian options also though not always clear if a dish is suitable for vegetarians (contains parmesan for example or another non-vegetarian cheese)
There are no drinks included with the half board dinner but at breakfast there is the option for complimentary mimosas. Breakfast selection was pretty much the same each day, various breads and pastries, bacon and cold meats/cheeses, fruit and yoghurt and an omelet station (my favourite of the lot).
The pool is very clean, sun beds and towels readily available, there is no fighting for them here, plenty to go around and the pool bar is great albeit white expensive. Coke zero 25cl - €5, 33cl beer - €5.50, 15cl glass of wine €5.50 and cocktails around €10 each. Compared to a lot of restaurants these prices are reasonable in Dubrovnik but travellers may get a surprise at just how expensive eating and drinking out is in Dubrovnik.
The only let down of this hotel which is outside of their control are the construction works ongoing on the marina, operating 8-4 on weekdays whilst noise isn't horrendous if you're using the pool, walking to and from the hotel would be difficult for those with mobility issues, it can be muddy or dusty depending on the weather.
Hotel is a 200-300m walk to the local Studenmac Markets which are small convenience shops and the local Tommy supermarket is around 0.75Km away. I'd recommend stocking up on some drinks from the Tommy market as a bottle of wine is around €5 for good quality wine. Local beer Ozusjka is around €5 for 6 cans.
There are 3 local beaches all around a 1.5Km or 15-20 min walk from the hotel, Cocacabana, Sunset and Bellevue Beach. You can catch the bus from around 300m away from the hotel to the old town, single tickets are €1.73 ea if purchased from the bus kiosk, though if you are in a group of 4 an Uber is probably cheaper.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants all within a 1Km radius of the hotel if you want to eat out but be prepared to spend €60-80 for a single course meal for 2 with an alcoholic drink each. Greengarden burger bar immediately next to the hotel is probably the cheapest of the lot and do very nice food.
I'd definitely stay here again and our experience was a good one, the only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is due to the buffet which keeps the food warm and not hot and the ongoing construction works. I'm certain once complete the marina...
Read moreHotel Lapads exterior is beautiful....the road outside is a little congested as the marina is being extended. There are many lovely restaurants in the door step. The reception staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The original staircase is quite lovely. The artwork is quite appealing, the hotel is clean and tidy. Our room had a view over the marina and across to the hills. Croatia is truly stunning. We had to close our shutters due to high winds at the request of the hotel. The bed was a fabulous size, the linen of good quality , the pillows are a bit lumpy but we slept well. The wardrobe is a bit short for long dresses and we didn't have enough hangers but the reception staff arranged for more hangers which was great. The TV had a fair choice of stations, we like to watch BBC NEWS. The bathroom is well appointed with double sinks , loads of white fluffy towels, nice WC although light switch for loo is on loo wall, times I forgot to switch that off. Two ample towelling dressing gowns are provided as are those strange slippers. Tissues are provided in the bathroom, soap dispensers which are awkward as one is placed on wall between double sinks and kept fulling off...the hairdryer is also on wall in bathroom but is virtually useless...it blows like a soft breeze and the cable is stiff and short...take your own hairdryer, this said the mirror in bedroom is too high to actually see what you are doing if you sit down. The shower is over the bath, rain shower plus hand shower...the shower screen folds inwardly which was a pain...I asked for a slip mat and one was duly supplied, the bath tap sticks out a little too much and got in the way but that was probably as I am a bit on the large size. Loads of hot water, any time of day which was fabulous. Rooms are cleaned everyday....the cleaning staff are lovely. We were bed and breakfast and the choice of breakfast was very good. Every thing and more was served even an omelette station. You can eat other meals in the hotel which are buffet style but we ate out. The pool is not large and sunbeds are available to all but you have to ask the pool boy, bless him he was a little star. There is a nice bar and a beautiful old style conservatory which serves drinks coffee and really nice food. Everything can be charged to the room. Fresh towels are provided by the pool. I would say this hotel is for families, there were children and when they were jumping in the pool or playing endless ball games it's difficult to swim. There is a lovely garden area which people sun bathed in, but this was sectioned off occasionally for private functions or weddings. We throughly enjoyed our stay , you can walk to sunset beach area , a tip...walk to the left of the hotel and you will find an alley way with long steps at the end....this saves walking up the hill, at the top is a carpark and a very well stock mini market...lovely fruit crisps drinks tea coffee you know , all the essentials. Croatians all speak English and I have to say that Croatia is without doubt one of the most beautiful countries I have ever been to, the reception staff arranged a tuk tuk trip for us which was great, you've never seen such stunning scenery as you do from up in the hills, Dubrovnik walled city is a must. The 3 island trip is amazing, the islands are mesmerising. The fresh fish is simply delicious, we visited many beautiful little coves....Croatia is...
