I don't like leaving negative reviews however what happened to us here I found worrying. We chose this restaurant as the food specialised in Dalmatian dishes, the restaurant appeared to have quite a few local people eating in which is always a good sign and we really wanted to try the local cuisine, my partner had the black risotto which was a local speciality according to the menu and that was lovely, I ordered the pasticada and this is where the problems arose. This is a stew, when beef is in a stew it should be tender as anything however it was clear just looking at the dish that this was slices of beef that probably hadn't been cooked in the stew and one side looked like it had hardened in the fridge from being left uncovered. It was tough, chewy and hard to cut with a knife. As I was trying to cut it I heard the woman on the next table say to her husband, my Croat isn't great but I knew enough to understand her say when I make pasticada you don't need to use a knife to eat it. Should I have complained probably, its not my way however. The food coming out of the kitchen by and large looked lovely however if a chef is prepared to let a dish that clearly isn't good enough leave his kitchen then there's a serious problem. This dish was not right on a fundamental level, they could have said the dish isn't available if this was all they had to offer. However to allow a bad meal to leave your kitchen and end up in front of a customer is not right. Especially as the chef can clearly cook given the quality of the risotto. I may be a tourist and perhaps they don't care if one of us gets a bad meal I can't however forgive this kind of behaviour in a restaurant and I would warn anyone off from eating here, especially given the lovely food we had at several restaurants close by where they are very aware that they care enough to serve the best meals they can to their customers be they local...
Read moreGreat grilled chicken with chips, ajvar and grilled veg. It looked and tasted delicious, except for the grilled veggies that were extra salty (I actually found a big grain of salt in my mouth after the first mouthful, 4 stars for that. Pizza with local ham: very watery melted cheese on the top (cream soup consistency) and EXTREMELY salty, the dough half raw (uncooked) so inedible, 1 star for that. The service was quite slow considering downstairs was only one guy already eating and on the terrace just another couple. Also the waitress was very argumentative when I complained about the pizza, she got cross and told me off for complaining, also she kept claiming the pizza was perfectly fine and "that's how it was made in Croatia, it was normal to be THAT salty because of the ham" etc.she did take it off the bill though and agreed to bring another dish instead. 2 stars for the service, 1 for the pizza and 4 for the chicken, so I'm being generous with 2 stars. I have tried 4 pizzas in 2 different locations since, they were absolutely delicious and...
Read moreWe came off a boat at Lapad Maria and saw this lovely restaurant in front of us. While looking at the menu board outside, the owner came to greet us. We asked if they accepted credit card because some restaurants here accept cash only. Good to hear that Konoba accepts credit cards.
We sat on the balcony and took in the beautiful Lapad view of mountains, cruise boats, and enjoyed the wind. The menu is printed in several languages including English, which is convent to tourists.
We ordered some dishes and the food came out rather quickly. The seafood pizza, fried calamari, seafood risotto, grilled vegetables, and wine muscles were all delicious and we ate all!
What a charm restaurant. Highly...
