On September 13th around 8 PM, we had just arrived in Dubrovnik and walked into this restaurant. A waiter indicated a two-person table inside for us, so we sat down. However, after about five minutes, no one brought us a menu or came over to take care of us. Three staff members were standing by the counter, chatting or on their phones, occasionally glancing our way, but without approaching. ( there were only 3 tables occupied, so I assumed they were not that busy) Shortly after, a Western couple entered and were given menus within a minute, which made us wonder if we had been overlooked. I then politely asked for menus and was told, “Sure, take a seat,” but even after waiting longer, no one came. Meanwhile, other nearby tables had already placed their orders. Feeling uncomfortable and confused, we decided to leave. Since we did not dine here, we cannot comment on the food, but the service we experienced was problematic. If it was not a matter of discrimination, we hope the restaurant can provide an explanation. After checking other reviews, we also noticed another Asian guest mentioning a similar situation of being ignored. As a city welcoming international visitors, such experiences...

Came to this lovely looking cafe for breakfast while waiting for a bus. For some reason we were told the two of us couldn’t sit at a table for four as it was going to get busy for lunch soon, even though it was only 10am. We sat down at a larger table anyway since we were not going to stay that long, needless to say that there were still plenty of tables available when we left one hour later… The breakfast (eggs with salmon) tasted really good but was expecting more considering the price (almost 15€). The toast was a normal piece of toast that you probably buy at a supermarket (not even sourdough bread) and I wouldn’t dare calling a “salad” just three leaves of rocket and two halved tomatoes thrown on top it. The presentation was nice but definitely overpriced for what it is. I pay less for more in London! Freshly squeezed juice also overpriced considering it didn’t come in a big glass and was watered down with ice. All in all would still recommend since the food was very yummy and the location is convenient, right opposite the main bus station so really handy to grab a bite before leaving or...

WORST experience on our 2 week vacation in Croatia and we went to several cities. This was our first "taste" of Dubrovnik right after we arrived. Go to Babin Kuk instead, so many great, cozy restaurants.

Anyways... Horrible tasteless, overpriced food. I ordered teryaki beef with rise instead of noodles. Way to salty, not any teryaki flavors, just a few pieces of carrots and cabbage, the rice was badly cooked and the beef was sour and old. Our waiter was VERY rude and unprofessional from the beginning. He did not welcome us, gave my friend a dirty glass, and he did not apologize, just got angry he had to go get a clean one and nearly threw the glass on the table.

He asked how the food was. When I complained about the food, he did not care at all and just left without saying anything. We got no compesation for our troubles, and we contemplated leaving without paying...

If you hate your job that much, quit your job, that's...

Bistro 49 is conveniently located right across from the Dubrovnik bus station, making this a great place to stop for a meal while waiting for transportation. To start, the Assorted Dalmatian Cheese platter came with a generous portion of four different local cheeses, dressed with arugula, cherry tomatoes, olives, and almonds. Each of the cheeses was relatively mild and featured a crumbly or slightly chewy texture, typical of the cheeses of this region. We also had the Cevapcici, or ground beef sausages grilled with mushrooms, zucchini, and peppers; and a refreshing salad of lettuce, chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onions, all dressed with olive oil. Overall, the food here was delicious and came at a good value—the service, however, was extremely slow, so make sure you’re not in a rush!
