This might be the first unfavorable dining review I've left in 2 decades and 25+ countries visited traveling. I certainly can't recall another one. I'm generally really positive in my reviews (see my history of you don't believe me). But this was just rough.
My 21 year old daughter and I dined here this evening and I was hoping it would be good. We were disappointed. The black risotto was mushy in texture and lacked flavor. My well-traveled daughter commented that it could have been a box of black Mac n cheese for all we knew. I wasn't expecting authentic Mexican quesadillas * but I did hope for something that would at least have taken a unique spin on a traditional quesadilla. They had chicken and cheese and random veggies (zucchini?) stuffed into a warmed up tortilla; had I not been famished I would have left them uneaten as the risotto was left.
To be fair to the server, there was just one person attending to perhaps 9 tables, so he was busy. During our 90+ minute visit, we were attended to exactly 4 times: to order, to deliver food, 2 minutes after food was delivered with the customary "how is everything" question that we really couldn't answer because we had not had much of chance yet to try our meal, and then to close the check. The last came after waiting for approximately 30 minutes. When at the end it was clear that much of the food was not eaten, no real question as to why or if an adjustment could be made was offered. When the offer for a box to take it was declined, I thought an inquiry might then be made by our server as to why, but no. And I didn't offer a reason unsolicited because I didn't wish to make a scene there. We're not those kinds of dining guests.
The atmosphere was fine. And other guests appeared to enjoy their dishes more than we did. I hope they did. We would not eat here again, though. It's my most disappointing dining experience I've had whilst traveling. Hopefully we are the only guests that this restaurant...
Read moreDisappointed. We went here after reading to good reviews. When we entered, we were the only guests there. That’s not a problem though. However after ordering our dishes, we heard microwave sounds.
The meat with gnocchi looked promising and was an incredibly generous portion. But soon we realised it was definitely heated up in the microwave. The middle of the plate was - literally - steaming hot, and the corners were cold. The gnocchi texture inside was sand-like. Very different from what I remember from fresh ones. Meat sauce was quite sweet and had a bitter after taste.
The quesadilla was quite bland in taste. The chicken cubes were tough and dry. The salad and dips that came with the quesadilla were nice though.
Prices of the drinks were high for the location. €5 for 0,5L beer, €3,50 for 0,25L Coca Cola. In my opinion, asking €14 for the meat stew is quite high considering it’s heated up in a microwave and the gnocchi was not tasty.
Interior is quite nice. Service is sweet. But the food was disappointing. We were scared we could have gotten food poisoning, but...
Read moreThe food truly tasted awesome, but I'm 100% certain I got food poisoning from this place. Upon arriving in Croatia, our first meal was here. That same night I began feeling slightly ill and passed it up and heartburn. The next day we decided to go back to this place for breakfast since dinner was tasty and it was close by. I had a fruit shake and ordered the English breakfast. After the shake, and about five bites into breakfast, I felt violently ill to the point of feeling like I was having a heart attack. The "heavy" feeling in my stomach persisted all day and then for at least the next five days afterward. I ended up throwing up almost every meal for the next three days, and had to try force myself to eat to get some nurtrition even though I was sick and threw up almost every meal for the next few days afterward. I've travelled all over the world and I usually have a stomach of steel. If this place made me that sick, I'm afraid how many others might get sick too. The food did taste good, but you've been forewarned that you may get...
