This was probably the busiest attraction we visited in Split. Tickets are available from the office just opposite the cathedral. The climb started with a couple of floors of steep stone steps and then changed to an open metal staircase, which was far worse for vertigo! There were views on each level but obviously you had to go to the top to get the best all round views. This took a while as people were coming down the stairs too so you had to pause at each level. The views from the top were as impressive as you'd expect and it was the first time we realised the number of cruise ships that were docked in the town. We also got to see Marjan Hill which we'd only seen on the map before and that was our next destination. After a careful walk down we were back on stone flooring and could relax. It's worth a pause to look at the bells on the way down now and the structure itself is impressive for a thousand...
Read moreThe Saint Domnius Bell Tower in Split offers one of the best views of the city and the surrounding areas. It’s part of Saint Domnius Cathedral, and though the climb is a bit steep with narrow steps, it’s totally worth it once you reach the top. From up there, you get breathtaking panoramic views of Split, the coastline, and even nearby islands.
The tower itself is quite impressive, with its Romanesque design and beautiful stonework. The bell at the top adds to its charm and history, and it’s cool to imagine how much the area has changed since it was built.
Though the climb can be a bit of a workout and you are not allowed to bring your water with you (they make you place it outside the steps before going in), the scenic views and the sense of history make it a highlight of the visit. Definitely don’t skip it if...
Read moreSpecial Split in Charming Croatia is worth visisting and if you are able to, climb up the bell tower of 180 steps to get to the top for sweeping Split views, and panoramic 360 degrees view and photographs from the top. Steps start rather steep at the beginning, but become manageable stainless steel stairs after the first few flights of stone stairs. It is EUR7 for the bell tower, but I got the EUR12 green ticket with entrances to the Bell Tower, Cathedral and Treasury. Split is home to a 1,700 year old Roman Emperor Diocletian palace with remnant portions such as cellars (and a UNESCO World Heritage site). Split also has many restaurants and a market place selling souvenirs and produce. Have fun exploring the labyrinthine streets and arcaded squares of...
