This was possibly the best restaurant we have visited in Zadar. The waitress was very invested in the place as she could tell us a lot about the beers and the food. We chose to let her recommend every course of our diner and the food she brought us was absolutely amazing. She said the plates she recommended were her favourite dishes period, and we believe her.
I started with the octopus salad, which was very tasty. Then I had the black risotto, which was even better. I don’t know what else was in it, but the flavours worked so well together. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and something with figs, which were really complementary of each other. Which of course they were, since the waitress recommended them both. We skipped a main course since the first 2 courses were enough.
For drinks I had the blonde and IPA beers of the local brewery and both were really very good. I drink craft beers very frequently and I can honestly say both beers are up there with the better ones I’ve had.
We came here with pretty high expectations, since the owner of La Cabana (the best Mexican restaurant in town!) recommended this place. Still our expectations were outdone. Highly highly recommend if...
Read moreWe have been several times to this trattoria. The first time we bumped in accidentally, and after eating here it became our fixed spot. It's in our opinion, by far, the best restaurant in Zadar because the owner (his name is Robert, a very friendly man who took all the time for us) buys all his ingredients from local farmers and suppliers.
Robert had a restaurant for 11 years in Venice and made a step across the Adriatic Sea, to Zadar, bringing his experience and typical Italian keen eye for qualitative good food with him.
There are of course many restaurants in Zadar. But many are focused on mass-production, serving as much as possible tourists. This restaurant is a very welcome exception where quality is still the main factor.
I really recommend this restaurant, for both a romantic dinner with your love as for a memorable family dinner.
Oh, and the price? Reasonable for Zadar and very good if you take the quality into account. Count on 20 euro's per person for a starter and a main dish (without drinks).
Say hi to Robert when you're...
Read moreIf your grandmother's dishes, your lovely cousin serving you and sitting on your uncle's handmade fourniture is what you're looking for, then you arrived at the right spot. Not only is the food finger licking tasty and the ambient authentic and lovely, but the service a really grate one. Somehow Kate managed to make us feel part of the family, one that. truly is a little place built on tradition. She was able to read all our wishes from our lips, be whole hearted and genuine, making us want to return to that place as if we'd want to return to our home on the country side. We don't have the authority to give away a Michelin star, unfortunately, but we sincerely hope that your review will make the necessary tribute, as the experience motivated us to take the necessary time to find the right words.
Dear culinary amateurs, let's support the right places together, so that truly locals don't get lost and replaced by pretenders who watch their pockets more than your stomache. Authenticity must stand higher than...
