Avoid at all cost. This is the last day of our 10 days stay in Zadar and we decided to eat lunch at Kulf as it is located in front of our room. Started with the octopus salad (17€) to share. We were served a mix of overcooked octopus and mashed potatoes (see the picture) without any empty plates to share the food: we were expected to eat from the same bowl (chipped and almost a safety hazard) in the middle of the table. We asked for two plates and the waiter brought us only one like we asked him gold cutlery and crystal glasses. We asked for a second plate and it finally came. The salad was bland and probably prepared several days prior as it smelled and tasted almost off - it really kills the concept of “freshly caught fish” when you serve it 3 days later. Although we were finished for some time, no one came to remove our empty plates and when the waiter brought the pasta we had to take the empty plates ourselves so he could put down the dishes and clear what we were holding for him. We were asked to keep the forks, so no change in cutlery; we’ve been basically forced to eat beef ragout with a fork used to eat fish/mollusc. A change of cutlery between courses is not only good basic service, is also mandatory when switching between fish and meat. The bolognese ragù taste the same as the one you can get in a vase at the supermarket, the aglio and olio linguine were weirdly dry, with a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. Really overpriced for the quality of the food and especially the service (the tall and slim waiter with the name tag) was very unwelcoming, looked incredibly upset and unhappy of working at Kulf. So yeah, avoid this restaurant, it is merely a tourist trap. Go somewhere else down the road where they serve you with a smile on their face, the food is prepared on the day, and you might also save a couple of kuna.

Read moreI am really confused about how to rate this place. I want to give 5 stars because the owner is from Kosovo and it was brave enough to come and open his own place in a new country. I admire him following his dream. He was also working there and by the short conversation we had I can see how passionate he was about the restaurant. I really hope he will be very successful and open many more restaurants. The atmosphere is also nice and modern, romantic.
But there are a few things that didn't make a very good impression. I really hope he will read this review and he will think about how to improve the service.
The food was normal. I was having octopus salad and I had a feeling that the octopus was frozen, or not well unfrozen, or too cold. I had a glass of white wine. The glass was visibly damaged by many uses in the dishwasher and the wine was warm. We also try chevapicy with ajvar and fries 🍟. The chevapicy were too oily. We wanted pancakes but it was over. Tiramisu was nice. The prices are also a bit high for the quality of the food. And then the biggest recommendation for improvement is the stuff. The cook was working with the gloves, but the lady who helped him didn't wear any. This doesn't make a good impression. Also there was some tension between one of the waiters and the others. He didn't service our table but he came a few times just to check on us, which was weird. Maybe he had good intentions but it was a bit weird. We also saw he was taking fries from the plate which was served to us. It was just one piece or 2 but still is not very nice to eat from the food of your clients. Our waiter was nice,...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience. We visited the restaurant hoping for a nice meal, but the service was a letdown from the start. The first waiter acted cocky, immediately saying we couldn’t make even a small change to the dish yet later admitted they didn’t even have the listed side dish from the menu available. We ordered biftek with champignon sauce and waited 45 minutes, only to receive the wrong order. Thankfully, another waiter polite and professional, apologized and took the plate back to be corrected.
Still, by that point, we had already waited almost an hour and now had to wait all over again because someone couldn’t do their job properly. A restaurant should provide not only good food but also respectful, reliable service. For me, this was a 0-star experience, and I won’t...
