Konoba Dalmatino — Restaurant in Općina Bol

My husband, best friend, and I went here during a visit to Croatia for my birthday dinner. We started with the cuttle fish risotto to share, which was delicious, and Marco, the restaurant manager, made delicious local wine recommendations, and suggested the homemade gnocchi with truffle and prosciutto cream sauce for dinner, which was out of this world! Portion size was large, and offered more than enough to take home for lunch the following day. The sourdough bread was made in house, and probably some of the best and freshest bread I have had. Once Marco found out it was my birthday, he and some of the staff brought out homemade cake and local liqueur for us to sample. A wonderful experience that made my birthday that much more special. We stopped by the following night to purchase a couple bottles of the wine that we had for dinner the previous night, and Marco greeted us, like we were old friends, offered us free dessert and shared more local liqueur with us. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant, the delicious, definitely homemade, food, and wonderful customer service. We went to Konoba Dalmatino two nights ago and thought how a small konoba away from the main Riva would be a better option food-wise. The konoba looks very cute and Charming and the service was also very friendly. Unfortunately the food quality didn’t match the prices of the restaurant nor it’s Ambiente. I ordered gnocchi with truffles and Dalmatian ham and parmiggiano which was delicious but the “fresh” fish of my girlfriend probably never saw the Dalmatian sea before. A restaurant that claims to have high quality domestic fish should serve food equal to its promises and prices, which unfortunately wasn’t the case here. First she wanted to order confit-squid with potatoes but our neighbor was served the dish which was in fact fried squid loops and potatoe wedges all you can find in the deep cooler of the next Metro. We went to this restaurant on the advice of a French blog. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. First, we were told that a table would be free in 15 min; it was after more than 30 min. Then, our anchovie salad was served without one of the ingredients advertised on the menu and the salad leaves didn't look very fresh. I started to wonder whether the ingredients were directly sourced from the supermarket nearby. French fries for the main course were not very crispy.
