Restaurant Santo — Restaurant in Općina Bol

I visited Restaurant Santo again in May 2025, having dined here several times over the years. Once again, it completely lived up to expectations. The food was excellent, combining local ingredients and traditional Dalmatian preparation with a modern touch. I started with a shrimp salad, followed by a tuna steak with Swiss chard, and finished with a classic tiramisu. Everything was well-balanced, full of flavor, and beautifully presented without being overdone.

One of the things that makes Santo stand out is the fact that it’s a family-owned restaurant, with most of the staff being members of the same family, all originally from Bol. That local connection adds a special sense of warmth and authenticity.

The waiter who served us was friendly, but striking the perfect balance between attentive and relaxed service.

The setting is another highlight. Dining on the terrace with a view of the sea and the island of Hvar creates a peaceful, unforgettable atmosphere.

If I could give this place a zero I would. The food we ordered was poor quality in comparison to every other restaurant we’d eaten at in Croatia with a much higher price tag. The waiter we had (older man - presumably the manager/owner) was rude, unwelcoming and was only thinking about table turn over rather than providing a nice experience for the customers. Slow service to start, then when we asked for an additional salad with starters a mere few minutes after placing the order, we were told it’s too late, it’s out of stock, and then we saw another table order it with no problem. Clearly the waiter wanted us to order our mains and get new customers in. We decided not to bother with mains and requested the bill, Which as expected was with us immediately with a rude slamming on the table. No thank you. No questioning as to why we were leaving or was everything okay? A poor service with an expensive price tag. I would absolutely not recommend this place. I can just write about the restaurant as I haven’t been a guest at the hotel. The one and only (ever) lunch I had at that place was a weird and super unprofessional experience. The fish was undercooked twice for which we barely got an apology but it was deducted from the check which is the bare minimum I had expected. My feeling is that I was rather tolerated than respected as a customer at that place although at the time I was there there were hardly any customers - so they were not too busy. I would sustain from jumping into conclusions as to why that was - being a Serbian tourist in Croatia - but it was a strange and not a tourist friendly experience at all. The reat of the food was decent but nothing out of ordinary. I wouldn’t recommend the place until they practice some manners and act more as a tourist oriented...
